Djokovic visits Dorcol tennis complex
‘We will be perfect hosts’

Serbia’s tennis star number one, Novak Djokovic, celebrated his first ATP
title of 2009 on Saturday in Dubai, while only a few hours afterwards, he was
already in Belgrade.
After touching down in Serbia, Novak paid a visit to the construction site of
the Milan Gale Muskatirovic Sports Centre in Dorcol, Belgrade, in order to
personally examine the stage of the works at the centre that is to host Serbia
’s first ATP open event between 2 and 10 May this year.
Djokovic was brilliant in his Dubai finals match against Spain’s David
Ferrer 7-5 6-3 and thus created a perfect prelude to the Davis Cup clash in
Spain, scheduled for next weekend. In the company of his father Srdjan,
brother Djordje and uncle Goran, Novak Djokovic came to see how the
adaptation of the sports centre in coming.
- “I wanted to see how the work is coming. I am really pleased with what I
can see and I must admit I am a bit astonished to see how much they have done
since I was last here,” said Novak.
The sports complex to be the venue of the Serbia Open is planned to be
completed by no later than 15 April.
- “I am sure the Serbia Open will be the most significant sports event in
Serbia this year. Belgrade will have another chance to show what a true
sporting city it is and I’m confident we will live up to the expectations,”
says Djokovic, who is to appear, along with the rest of the Serbia team, at
the Davis Cup tie in Spain.
