Started his career with CSM Resita before moving to Universitatea Craiova
where he came to the attention of Ajax. Has had discipline problems in the

out of the game and scoring a goal which helped Romania beat England.
This meant they qualified for the quarter-finals where they lost to Italy 2-0.
