ROME, Jan 3 (Reuters) - Italian banks have agreed to a rescue deal for Serie A
side Lazio, offering a 20-million-euro ($20.75 million) loan to help the
cash-strapped club through their deep financial crisis, a financial source
said on Friday.
Hit by troubles at canned food group Cirio, which controls the club, Lazio
have been unable to pay most of their players since June and need an urgent
cash injection to avoid losing the best of them to the transfer market.
Lazio have been shining on the pitch despite their financial crunch and are
third in the Serie A standings.
