One-on-One with Dick Vitale
I know you're a big tennis fan and that you and Maria Sharapova both
live in Bradenton. She's scheduled to play in our Family Circle Cup
in April. Do you think she'll win?
"Let me tell you about Maria Sharapova, and it's something I just
talked to the Cincinnati Reds about. Several years ago my buddy in
Bradenton, Nick Bollettieri, calls me up and says, 'Dick, come on
over. There's a player I want you to see.' And it's this young
teenage girl hitting backhands and forehands, running left and
right hooked up to some kind of harness on the court. The work
ethic. The long hours of dedication and sweat. I saw it with my
own eyes. That's what makes Maria Sharapova so special, not all
the other stuff."

Dick Vitale是美國相當知名的籃球球評，
受訪時被問及也是網球迷的他，對同住在Bradenton的莎娃有何看法。
意外的是，Dick Vitale在好幾年前就應Nick Bollettieri之邀見過她了，
他覺得親眼所見的工作倫理、長時間的投入、汗水才是讓莎娃特別之處，
而不是其他的東西…。
