The New York Knicks will play the Philadelphia 76ers in an
Oct. 22 exhibition game at the Carrier Dome. Much of the
attention will focus on Carmelo Anthony, returning to the
court where he was the driving force behind the success of the
first and only Syracuse University team to win a national
championship.

尼克跟七六人將在10/22在Carrier Dome進行一場熱身賽。的確很多人
會衝著Melo跟過去他帶給雪城市民的激情而手滑買下了這場比賽的票，

Yet as Donna Ditota notes  , the 76ers also have deep and
powerful ties with Syracuse basketball; their basketball DNA
begins in our town. In 1963, the old Syracuse Nationals moved
to Philadelphia and became the 76ers - removing the last NBA
"small market" stalwart of the league's early days, when the
NBA elite included such cities as Syracuse, Rochester and Fort
Wayne.

如同我同事所說，七六人這個球隊曾經是雪城籃球光榮神聖而不可分割
的一部分：他們的DNA來自紐約州中央地帶。1963年，古典版本的小市

The close connection between the 76ers and Syracuse continued
for seven years after the Nats left town, thanks to a deal
worked out by Danny Biasone, the Eastwood bowling alley
operator who'd been president of the team when it was in
Syracuse. Between 1964 and 1970, the 76ers played 18 "home
games" here, including several games that achieved lasting
importance in league history.

不過即便搬家也改名了，但是七六人跟雪城之間獨特的聯繫與情感仍然
持續。當時的七六人主席仍然對雪城充滿感激，在1964年搬家後直到70
年為止，七六人曾經安排過18場的「主場」例行賽在雪城舉行，而其中
一些仍是雪城鄉親茶餘飯後仍津津樂道的經典比賽。

Two of the great duels between Wilt Chamberlain of the 76ers
and Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics - the dominant centers
of their era - occurred in the Onondaga County War Memorial.

當時的兩大傳奇中鋒Wilt Chamberlain跟Bill Russell曾經在沃寧達崗
戰爭紀念體育館進行過巔峰對決，這個球場就是當年雪城國民還在這個
城市時使用的主場。

On Feb. 12, 1966, when the 76ers were only three years removed
from being the Nationals, a full house at the War Memorial of
almost 8,000 watched the Celtics edge the 76ers, 85-83, even
though Chamberlain outscored Russell, 29-3. The Celtics held
on when last-second shots by Hal Greer and a young forward by
the name of Lucious Jackson went astray. Decades later,
Jackson's son Luke would be a fixture on several fine Syracuse
University teams.

1966/02/12，七六人搬家後的第三年，戰爭紀念體育館當中的人潮把室
內八千個座席擠得水洩不通，可惜這場比賽最終綠色苜蓿以85-83帶走
了勝利，雪城之子沒能成功把驕傲留在此地，即便大帥以29分強壓Russ
的3分也無濟於事。綠杉軍當時的小將Lucious Jackson最終守住了一樣
是名人堂球員的Hal Greer的最後一擊。在這場比賽的數十年後，Lucy
的兒子Luke Jackson則成為了橘血人，並為此地留下了各式光榮。

Chamberlain also set a record of mind-bending dimensions in
Syracuse. In a Feb. 28, 1967, game against Oscar Robertson and
Cincinnati at the War Memorial, he scored 28 points, pulled
down 36 rebounds and gave a capacity crowd what it came to
see: He made his first four shots from the floor, setting a
league record that still stands of 35 consecutive field goals
without a miss. That Philadelphia team, coached by former Nat
Alex Hannum, went on to become NBA champions, ending Boston's
streak of eight titles in a row.

除了這場世仇對決外，Wilt還曾經把聯盟紀錄留在此地。1967/02/28，
七六人在此迎接辛辛那堤皇家隊，與他們偉大的傳奇Oscar Robertson
捉對廝殺。當天在戰爭紀念體育館，在滿場鄉親父老助威與見證之下，
大帥拿下了絕對制霸的28分36籃板，而且還破了滿場觀眾引頸期盼的聯
盟紀錄：連續35個field goal無一失手。當時的七六人教練就是過去雪
城國民的名將Alex Hannum，他們終結了綠色苜蓿的八連霸，拿下七六
人搬家後的第一座聯盟冠軍。

Years later, Hannum would recall how he always spoke of that
title-winning squad as "my Syracuse team," in deference to its
roots.

幾年之後，Hannum把他當年帶領的冠軍隊稱作是：「我的雪城隊」，以
示雖然七六人當年被迫遠走南方的賓係法尼亞，但是他們的根永遠都來
自紐約中央地帶。

The attention, rightfully, will be on Carmelo next month when
the Knicks come to the dome. Still, the basketball knowledge
and passion that's nurtured SU basketball began here with the
old Nats - and the 76ers, in so many ways, are our team,
coming home.

當然可以預期，雪城的鄉親將會歡天喜地的迎接他們的小男孩Melo回家，
但是千萬不要忘記，今日橘血人的榮耀，是建立在以前的Nats上，也就是
現在的七六人，所以從各種角度來看：我們的球隊終於回家了。
