And now, starting at the small forward position for your
Philadelphia 76ers, Thaddeus Young.
That is not a guarantee -- it's the desire and hope of the
Sixers' longest-tenured player. Young has told Doug Collins
it's his goal heading into training camp, which commences on
Oct. 1.

Last summer, Young was a restricted free agent and when the
lockout ended, it took less than 24 hours for him to come to
terms with the team that drafted him in 2007, and he is now
signed through 2016.
Young enters the upcoming season having made 140 starts in his
five-year career, but just two of those have come in the last
two seasons.

His sophomore season, in which he made a career-high 71 starts
in the 82-game season, Young averaged a career-best 15.3
points and five rebounds per game. He also played a
career-high 34 minutes per contest and shot nearly 13 field
goal attempts per game.
在他二年級時，他幾乎先發了整季(71場)，而且成績不俗：平均可以替
球隊拿下15.3分外加五個籃板。而且他在二年級時平均上場時間是34分

Young's numbers last season were not far from those marks as
he averaged 12.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in almost 28 minutes
per game coming off the bench.

板凳出發時，平均28分鐘的出場中他也能夠繳出12.8分5.2籃板。
With the exception of his rookie season, Young has typically
played the power forward position. However, he was a small
forward in college and he would like the chance to play
against guys closer to his size. The 24-year-old is 6-foot-8,
but weighs just 220 pounds.
扣掉他的新秀球季，雖然他在大學當中打的是小前鋒，但是在過去幾
年當中他更常在四號位置貢獻時間。不過這個二十四歲、6'8"的小前

The problem? The Sixers will likely start Evan Turner at the
small forward position with Andre Iguodala now in Denver.
一切聽起來都很符合常理，但是人生最不缺那個but。問題在於七六人
目前有另外一個選擇：讓Evan Turner打三號，直接繼承Iguodala過去
的位置。
Like Iguodala, Turner can create off the dribble, he shoots
the mid-range jumper and he rebounds extremely well. Turner
lacks a three-point shot, but others on the roster will
compensate for that.
就跟AI9一樣，Turner能夠透過運球製造機會，而且他能夠丟中距離、
可以抓很多籃板。雖然Turner現在還不具備三分的射程與穩定性，不
過在新的陣容當中，有很多人可以擔當這個工作。
Newly-acquired Dorell Wright is a small forward as well, who
started at that position every game he played in the last two
seasons with Golden State.
Last year, Wright averaged 10.3 points per game, 15th-highest
among all small forwards in 2012. In addition, he had the
17th-best three-point field goal percentage at his position.
新朋友Dorell Wright也會在三號先發卡位戰軋上一角，他過去兩個球
季在勇士都是以先發三號出發。
去年D-Wright平均一場可以為勇士貢獻10.3分，在全聯盟的小前鋒裡

In order for Young to play his desired position, two areas
must improve: ball-handling skills and his shooting range.
如果Thad希望如同他所期望的成為七六人的正選三號，他需要在兩個
領域當中有所突破：持球技巧的加強，與投射範圍的擴大。
Young struggled in last year's Eastern Conference semifinals,
going up against the Celtics' Brandon Bass, who matches Young
in height, but is 30 pounds heavier.
In the series, Bass averaged 14 points per game, scoring in
double figures six of the seven contests, which was
highlighted by his 27 points in Game 5. Meanwhile, Young's
best effort came in Game 3 when he scored 22 points, but he
reached double figures in only one other game and averaged
eight points a night for the series.
Thad 在ECSF對上Brandon Bass打得很掙扎。Bass跟Thad差不多高，但
是Bass的份量多了整整三十磅。
在這個系列賽Bass平均可以拿下十四分，在七場比賽當中有六場拿下
了兩位數的得分，尤其第五場他大爆發，拿下了27分幫助苜蓿葉取得
了第五場天王山的勝利。Thad當然也不是沒有在這個系列亮眼過，不
過他除了第三場拿下22分以外，在這個系列他只有另外一場比賽得分
上雙。
Still, on most nights it is Young that gives the opposition
fits, using his quickness in a reserve power forward role.
Expect Collins to continue using Young in that role -- it
works for the player and the team.
當然，在大部分的比賽中，Young都能夠在小四號這個位置，靠著堅強
的速度與機動性對抗所有的四號，並且給他們帶來麻煩。
我認為Doug最終還是會把Thad擺在板凳出發，對球員與球隊來說，這
似乎都是最好且能夠順利運作的作法。
