Before the acquisition of Andrew Bynum, the Sixers were poised
to have a battle at starting center: incumbent Spencer Hawes
vs. newly signed veteran free agent Kwame Brown.

過去兩個球季擔綱先發中鋒的耗子爺繼續先發，還是要讓讓新來的防守
型中鋒Kwame Brown上位。
Trading for Bynum has, of course, changed that. So what
becomes of Hawes and Brown? Brown will back up Bynum, and
coach Doug Collins has hinted at making Hawes his starting
power forward, a job that had been held by Elton Brand the
past four seasons.
在電車男孩進站之後，一切都改變了。所以Hawes跟Kwame應該怎麼發落
呢？Brown已經確定要當Bynum的替補，而Doug已經強烈暗示他會讓耗子

Some fans cringe at the thought of Hawes at the four because
they believe he will be a defensive liability, lacking the
quickness needed to guard his counterparts. It is a concern
that has credence. But just as Thaddeus Young proves to be a
mismatch coming off Collins' bench as an undersized-but-quick
power forward, Hawes' 7-foot frame, soft shooting touch and
excellent passing skills could also cause problems for the
opposition.
有一些球迷對讓耗子打四號的想法感到憂心，因為很多人都擔心他的

Hawes last season averaged 9.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6
assists in 25 minutes per game. During the 29 games he was
sidelined with an Achilles injury, the Sixers' offense
appeared more stagnant, and it became obvious that Hawes was
an excellent facilitator in getting the ball to the weak side.
And because the Sixers have front-court depth, Hawes won't be
needed to play more than 23 to 25 minutes per contest.
耗子去年最終球季平均以上場25分鐘繳出9.6p-7.3r-2.6a坐收。而當他
因為阿基里斯的傷掛免戰牌25場球球時，七六人的進攻流動性受到了明
顯的傷害，而且原因很明顯是因為失去了Hawes的優秀轉送所提供的流

It was a priority for the Sixers to add length and toughness,
and starting two 7-footers could improve their rebounding.
They were actually seventh in the league last season but 22nd
on the offensive glass. Still, 42 NBA players averaged more
rebounds per game than Hawes, and he led the Sixers in
rebounding.
現在七六人已經擁有了內線的高度與碰撞優勢，而讓兩個七呎長人聯袂
先發將會加強他們在籃板上的優勢。去年七六人的籃板不差，可以排在

The 24-year-old Hawes is entering his sixth NBA season. He
played last season on a one-year deal and then this summer,
signed a two-year, $13 million contract. If there is one area
of concern, it is Hawes' temper; too often, especially in the
postseason, he picked up a personal foul and then would shake
his head in disgust or have bad body language, adding further
damage to the situation.
Hawes雖然只有二十四歲，不過他即將進入他生涯第六年了。他去年成
為聯盟史上以Qualifying Offer留下球隊一年，且一年約結束後與母隊
續約的唯一一人。如果說他還有什麼看起來太菜的地方，那大概就是他
掌握自己體內小溫度計的能力。尤其在季後賽，他常常在裁判對他做出
不利的判決時開始碎碎唸，或者展現出負面的肢體語言，招惹了裁判持
續性的觀照。
Collins is a strong believer in healthy competition. Hawes,
like the rest of the big men, will learn that their minutes
will be dictated by their play. Bynum, Hawes, Brown, Thad
Young, Lavoy Allen and rookie Arnett Moultrie will fight for a
share of 96 minutes nightly.
Collins 是個良性競爭的絕對奉行者。耗子將會跟所有的前場球員競爭
內線兩個位置短短的九十六分鐘，而今年的競爭者名單更加的緊湊：當
中有著Bynum/Hawes/Kwame/Thad/Lavoy/Arnett Moultrie。
Bynum averaged 35 minutes in 2012. Young, 28. Brown was
probably hopeful to get 20 minutes with the Sixers and Allen
to build on the 15 minutes he averaged last season as a
rookie. Depth is necessary in case of injury, but it can also
lead to unhappiness over a lack of playing time.
Of course, winning usually solves those difficulties.
Bynum上個球季平均上場三十五分鐘，Thad去年平均28分鐘。Kwame可能
會被賦予接近20分鐘，Lavoy將會從15分鐘起跳(這是去年他季賽的平均
上場時間)。深度絕對是為球員受傷而買的保險，但是他也有可能會造成
球員因為上場時間不滿意而導致的不愉快。
當然，勝利是最好的良藥；只要能夠贏球就能撫平這種不愉快，反而能
夠激勵球員奮發向上，為球隊贏球做出貢獻。
