PHILADELPHIA — Dorell Wright has been one of the best players through the
first three days of the 76ers’ training camp.
Wright, a lean 6-foot-9 small forward obtained in a July 11 trade for a
second-round draft pick, is knocking down 3-point shots so consistently that
some teammates are calling out “layup” when he launches one.
“Every time I take my shot, I try to take it with a lot of confidence,”
Wright said. “Guys are finding me around the perimeter. My job is just to
knock it down.”

Wright is also showing he can do other things, too.
“I’ve been very impressed,” Spencer Hawes said after Thursday’s first
practice at Saint Joseph’s University. “Defensively, his athleticism and
his length is definitely something we’re going to be able to take advantage
of.”
Outside shooting developed into Wright’s strong suit during a two-year stint
with Golden State. He led the league with 194 made 3-pointers while averaging
16.4 points in 2010-11 (his previous high was 7.9 points) and added 105
3-pointers a year ago.
“Dorell did an awesome job in Golden State,” said Sixers teammate Jason
Richardson, who was second in the league to Wright in 3-pointers made in
2010-11. “He can get it going. If he hits one, he can hit 10.”

Wright became the first NBA player to score more points in his seventh season
(1,344) than his first six combined (1,333), and hit a total of 73 3s in his
first six campaigns.
A role player known for defense and rebounding in his first six pro seasons
with the Heat, Wright said he’s always been comfortable with the ball in his
hands and even played some point forward in Miami.
“I was one of those kids that played guard all my life,” Wright said. “I
grew a few inches. I was a late bloomer.”

Sixers coach Doug Collins didn’t realize how much Wright, likely to join
Thaddeus Young as the first forwards off the bench, is capable of
distributing and creating for others until he watched some pickup games
heading into camp.
That has continued at camp, where Wright brings the ball upcourt when he
grabs a defensive rebound.
“The thing that’s exciting for me is he’s a really good ball-handler,”
Collins said. “With that second unit, we were a little bit concerned maybe
with some ball-handling. He’s really been a real pleasant surprise there.”

一些私下練球畫面才驚喜萬分。現在，Wright很可能跟Thad Young一起，成為最先
從板凳上出發的前鋒。

Collins: "讓我很爽的是，他的控球功夫真的不賴。本來我們有點擔心，替補陣容
沒什麼人能控球。現在他剛好補上，福氣啦！"

sessions Thursday to be with his girlfriend, who had a baby boy.
二年級長人，別名天普王的Lavoy Allen，這兩天不在球場上，原來是生小孩去了...
我是說...陪老婆進產房了，兩人喜獲小壯丁一枚 :)
註: Dorell Wright綽號D3，老媽取的，也是他高中背號。他說前後顛倒就是3D，代
表Dorell、Delon和Danae，就是他和弟弟妹妹的合稱。
