Sixers' defense trails offense so far in camp

Typically at this point of the basketball season, a team’s
defense is further along in its development than the offense.
It takes some time for players to find the legs beneath their
shots and when they get there, it’s game on.
典型的狀況下，在訓練營的這個階段，一個球隊的防守通常會比進攻還
要快進入狀況。通常訓練營的時候，一個球員需要時間讓他的體能狀況
回到適合比賽的狀況，而這將會影響他們的投籃手感；而等到他們一切
調整好的時候，差不多球季就開始了。
But for the Sixers, it seems as if the learning curve has
shortened a bit. Based on Saturday night’s scrimmage at Hagan
Arena on Saint Joseph’s campus, the Sixers have been putting
the ball in the hoop.
Look out, defenses.
但是對現在的這個七六來說，看起來他們的學習曲線，在進攻上似乎比
典型狀況還要快很多，狀況火熱。看看星期六的訓練，七六人的球員們
總是能將球送進籃框。
那防守端呢？
“I think our offense is ahead of our defense,” assistant
coach Brian James said following Saturday’s scrimmage. “We
think our defense is going to be fine. We just have to do a
better job realizing our own strengths, which is three-point
shooting, and we didn’t chase anyone off the three-point line
tonight. If we need any improvement anywhere tonight, it’s
getting guys off the three.”
Brian James:
我認為我們的進攻進度超前了防守。我們相信防守將會變得很好，我們
只需要大家在防守上做得更好，瞭解各自的強項，像是在現在這個狀況
下，我們球員的三分天賦與技巧非常驚人，但是我們並沒有在三分線上

Jason Richardson, Nick Young and Dorell Wright buried a
plethora of long-range shots, perhaps motivated by a crowd of
about 1,000 season-ticket holders and corporate sponsors. When
the long shots weren’t being launched, the lightning-quick
guards like Maalik Wayns, Royal Ivey and Jrue Holiday worked
to set up plenty of dunks to keep the crowd on the edge of
their seats.

According to James, Richardson scored 17 points during the two
quarters of scrimmage action.
助理教練Brian James表示，在這場兩節的練習賽當中，J-Rich火力全
開，狂掃17分。
“You saw what the additions to our team could do, as well,”
James said. “I thought Jason Richardson played the best of
anyone. He led with 17 points and made a variety of shots —
mainly threes in transition, which is what he’s done his
whole career.”
你可以看到我們球隊在哪些方面變得更好了；我認為J-Rich在訓練營當
中打得比其他所有人都還要出色，他的17分來自他多元的得分技巧，以
攻守轉換的三分為主力，這也是他十一年生涯當中最拿手的部份。
And with that, the Sixers have wrapped up a week of training
camp at St. Joe’s. Following a day off on Sunday, the Sixers
will double up the practices again on Monday at Hagan Arena
before moving the show back up City Ave. to the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine on Tuesday.
Then Wednesday, the Sixers jet to Orlando for the first
exhibition game of the season.

“I think it’s been a great week,” James said. “Andrew
Bynum feels better, our team feels better about what we’ve
accomplished. You couldn’t ask our guys to play any harder.”
Bill James:
我認為這個禮拜的狀況很不錯。Drew感覺他的狀況好多了，整個球隊的
狀況非常好，並完成了大部份的準備。你沒辦法在他們的工作態度上挑

One week down and two more weeks to go before center Andrew
Bynum returns to basketball-related activities with his new
team. For the time being, the big man spent the scrimmage
shooting at a side basket while taking in the action.
Nevertheless, general manager Tony DiLeo said that if the
Sixers needed Bynum to play in a real game, he could do it.
◆ Bynum 狀況更新
Drew預定的三週關機已經完成了一週；而在他被從正常份量的籃球訓練
中隔離的當下，他在隊友熱身賽打得火熱時，一直持續在做有關射籃的
訓練。
然而，GM Tony DiLeo表示，只要七六人需要Drew打上真正的比賽，他
隨時都能夠上陣。（意思是他的沒有真的傷，只是預防措施，問題不大）
[Allen finding his step]
It’s been a hectic week for center Lavoy Allen. On Tuesday he
missed the first day of training camp because he thought his
girlfriend had gone into labor.
It turned out to be a false alarm.
Thursday afternoon, however, the real thing happened and Allen
and his girlfriend welcomed a baby boy to the world.
◆ 天普王已經回歸正軌
對天普王來說，上週絕對是忙亂的一個禮拜。在星期二他錯過了訓練營
的開訓，只因為他接到消息，孩子的媽開始陣痛。
結果這只是他兒子給他的虛晃一招。
但無論如何，星期二的下午，他終於迎接到屬於他跟他女朋友的新生命，
他們的兒子終於順利降臨人世。
As for Saturday’s scrimmage, it took a little while for Allen
to get going since he’s a couple days behind the rest of his
teammates. But once he found his step, Allen showed a little
more range than usual on his mid-range shot.
在星期六的訓練中，在缺席部份訓練營後的天普王很明顯需要時間讓他
的狀況回覆正軌。但是當他找到狀態時，天普王看起來甚至看起來更好
了，他的中距離射程比起去年我們熟悉的還要更長。
Look for Allen to battle with Kwame Brown and Thad Young for
minutes at the four- and five-spots during the preseason.
“The good thing about Lavoy is he can play both spots,”
James said. “He’s battling Kwame for some minutes and he’
ll battle Thad for some minutes at four. Competition is good
for everyone, and if you look, our three-spot is going to have
some competition as well. There’s nothing like competition.”
天普王在季前賽必須跟Kwame與Thad競爭四號與五號的上場時間。
Brian James:
天普王能夠支援前場兩個位置，對球隊有正面積極的意義；他跟Kwame
競爭五號的時間，同時也跟Thad競爭四號的時間，而競爭本身對所有人
來說都是正面的。如果你有注意，我們的三號位置目前也處於激烈的競
爭當中，這一切都有積極意義。
