Upon becoming an unrestricted free agent last summer, Young
admitted Wednesday to being “shocked” at ending up in
Philadelphia.

A phone call and subsequent chat with Doug Collins early in
the free agency period gave the Sixers the inside track with
Young.
Collins sealed the deal by meeting with Young’s parents a few
days later.
七六人跟尼克羊的接觸其實很開門見山，Doug Collins就播了一通電話
並且一陣簡短的談話示意七六人對他有興趣，就算數了。
而且七六人搞定這個談判也完全不花時間，幾天之後Doug Collins特地
去拜訪他們家，跟尼克羊的父母詳談一陣之後就搞定了。
“He sat down and talked to my dad and mom. Once my mom
started raving about him, it was pretty much a wrap right
there,” said Young, smiling.
Nick Young:
Doug就這樣大喇喇的坐下，並也開始跟我爸媽談。然後在Doug離開之後，
顯然對老硬漢很滿意的尼克媽就開始對兒子反覆不停的宣教，最後不得
已，屈服於強暴，只好簽了（笑）
Young officially signed a one-year, $6 million contract July
12.
Although Young said he’s not sure what his role will be when
the 2012-13 Sixers begin training camp Tuesday at Saint Joseph
’s University, it’s likely he’ll be a taller version of Lou
Williams.

即便尼克羊自己表示他不知道自己接下來的確切任務到底是什麼，但是

The 6-foot-7 Young has come off the bench in 204 of 357 NBA
games, averaging 14.2 points and shooting 37.8 percent from
3-point range.
尼克羊身長六呎七，生涯的357次亮相當中有204次是從板凳出發，而在
他不長不短的五年生涯當中，場均得分是14.2分，三分命中率還算可靠，
可以維持37.8%的水準。
“I have a chance to get a new start with a new team,” said
Young, 27. “I’ve just been waiting for the opportunity.”

Young spent his first 4½ NBA seasons with the Wizards before
the Southern California native and former USC star was traded
to the Clippers on March 15. He played 22 regular-season games
and 11 playoff contests there, hitting 51.5 percent of his
3-pointers in the postseason.
尼克楊在生涯的前面四個球季都在將他從南加大帶走的華府魔法師隊，
而在他簽下Qualifying Offer的第五年的交易截止日之前，華府方面將

Young admitted it was a little disappointing to leave after he
called it “a dream come true” to play in L.A.
“I have family and friends there,” he said. “It was great.
(But) I’m back with a team where we can make some big things
happen.”

家鄉打球形容成為「美夢終於成真」。
Nick Young:
我的親友都在南加州，在他們面前打球的感覺非常好。但是我來到了另

As for those who have said he made a mistake leaving L.A.,
Young said, “It’s like I brought L.A. with me, with all the
L.A. guys and the big man (Andrew Bynum, from the Lakers).”
有些人表示他離開天使城是不智之舉，而Nick Young的回答相當巧妙：
比起「離開LA」的講法，不如說我把天使城帶著走了，我現在仍然獲得
一個跟LA夥伴們打球的機會。
He spent a lot of time with Sixers small forward Dorell Wright
in Southern California over the summer. Jrue Holiday was also
born and raised there, and Bynum played his first seven NBA
seasons with the Lakers.
這個夏天他花了很多時間跟一樣是七六人新同學的Dorell Wright一起
訓練。還有像是曾經在LA打過七年球的Drew，另外像是七六人當家控球
後衛Jrue Holiday也是LA人。
“Jrue (and I) grew up around the same neighborhood,” Young
said. “He was one of the younger guys coming around. It’s a
good fit.”
Nick Young:
Jrue跟我是在同一個社區當中長大的，他比我還要年輕，我想我們兩個
能夠合作愉快。
While he liked what he saw in the Sixers in July, he grew even
more excited with the trade for Bynum, the starting center for
the Western Conference in the 2012 NBA All-Star Game.
而比起他對他新家費城的滿意，他更興奮於七六人將Andrew Bynum帶回
費城，能跟去年的全明星先發中鋒合作讓他非常開心。
“That was, like, unbelievable, really,” Young said. “That’s
big to get a player like that.”
Nick Young:
這交易完完全全的令人難以置信，對於七六人而言，能夠擁有像是Drew
這樣的球員非常重要。
Young is confident he can make Bynum’s life here easier.
“I’m going to be somebody to score the ball and take some of
the pressure off Bynum,” he said. “When they double team
him, he can kick it to me and I can knock down that shot.”
尼克羊甚至認為他能夠幫助Drew融入費城的打法。
Nick Young:
我將會跳出來製造得分威脅，並且替Bynum所受到的防守壓力作適度的
減壓。當那些傢伙對他包夾的時候，只要他傳出來給我，我拍胸脯保證

In mid-July, Collins said his goal is for Young to be the NBA’
s Most Improved Player.
“I think he has that kind of talent,” Collins said. “He can
score the ball and he’s got size.”
在這個夏天剛簽下尼克羊的時候，Doug Collins公開表示要把他改造成
一個年度最佳進步球員的有力競爭者。
Doug Collins:
我認為他有這樣的能耐與天份，他有著體能與身材上的優勢，而且他的
得分能力毫無疑問是真貨。
Young said at Wednesday’s media availability that he’d like
nothing more than to fulfill Collins’ wish.
“Most definitely,” he said. “I just have to be more
aggressive out there.”
而面對記者的提問，尼克羊也非常有自信，認為自己可以確實達成Doug
的期待。
Nick Young:
毫無疑問，我只要維持自己的熱忱，必且更努力，這樣的目標絕對在我
的能力範圍之內。
