Sixers pick up 2013-14 option on Collins' contract

Majority owner Josh Harris announced Monday that the Sixers
had picked up the 2013-14 option on Collins’ contract, which
would’ve expired after this season.
大老闆Josh Harris在媒體日時宣佈球隊將執行總教練Doug Collins在
2013-14球季的選擇權，他原本簽的3+1合約若不執行選擇權，將會在這
個球季結束後到期。
“We have Doug for at least two years, contractually, but
hopefully a lot longer than that,” Harris said. “We’ve had
a lot of success under coach Collins. I like someone who is
going to have strong views.”
Joshua Harris:

Collins is 78-70 in two years as Sixers coach and 408-359 in
10 seasons with four NBA teams. The Sixers went 27-55 under
Eddie Jordan the year before he took over in Philadelphia.

“It makes me feel great. I’ve always been a Sixer for life,”

connection we have.”

Last year, Collins guided the Sixers to their first playoff
series win since Larry Brown in 2003.

“My job as coach is to develop our assets and win,” Collins
said. “We wanted to be relevant. Now, we want to be champions.”

Hawes moving forward

Spencer Hawes, who has almost exclusively been a center in his
first five NBA seasons, wasn’t sure about the switch at
first. But he has grown to like Collins’ idea of playing more
power forward this season.
在生涯的前面五個球季，都主打中鋒的耗子，在接到可能必須換打四號
的任務後，一開始顯得有些不踏實。不過在仔細思考過後，他開始愛上

“At first, I was a little wary,” Hawes said. “More and more
basketball people I talked to who know me and know my game
kind of (convinced me) that it was a good move. That gave me
confidence to know I’m prepared to do it.”

Hawes looks to be in better shape than he reported in a year
ago. He is also sporting longer hair and no beard.

The Sixers added veteran big man Mikki Moore to their camp
roster, giving them 18 players for Tuesday’s start of
training camp.

Definitely one of the all-time under-rated sixers. Glad to see
him finally getting some league wide recognition the last few
years (All-star, All-NBA defense, Team USA). As much as he's
