On his team’s performance
“I just thought that we made some good adjustments at halftime in terms
of players making the adjustment on th efloor. I thought we got a little
more defensive on the floor and really started trying to contest shots
in the second half. I thought that was the big difference in the game.
Our defense got more aggressive in the second half and we were able to
get to some loose balls. We did a solid job at that end of the floor.And
when we are in a position to defend, it puts us in a position to rebound
the ball. At the end, we got some timely rebounds.”
On Eric Snow
“After [Paul] Pierce hit the two three’s [in the fourth quarter], we
wanted to tighten up. I think we had a two-point lead at the time.I just
thought that Eric [Snow] got very aggressive on his defense and did
a good job of playing good position defense. You like your veterans to
step up in tough situations and Eric [Snow] did in that situation.”
On playing shorthanded
“They are going to go to their key players-especially after he [Paul Pi
-erce] hit the two threes. We felt they were going to look for Vin Baker
or [Paul] Pierce to get the ball in their hands. I thought our defense
pushed up and got it done in a key situation.
"Dalembert came in there and got a key block for us. I think that allows
Eric [Snow],Allen [Iverson] and Aaron [McKie] to get out and run when we
block shots like that. I think the overall defensive effort was great,
but the second half was the crucial part for us. [The defense] has not
been there consistently and I thought we really got after it in this
game. It allowed us to win this game. Obviously, ourdefense picked it up
.”
On Allen Iverson
“The thing that I thought he had to become, and he did, more so in the
second half, was a distributor. You know, get other people open. I think
he was 3-11 at halftime.We tried to talk to him and become a distributor
and get other people involved.”

rebound and play defense was going to win the game- that’s when we got
that shot clock violation, so that means we played good defense.

look like the same team, from a flow standpoint, in the second half. I

“Paul played a great first half. Our offense stopped in the second half
. As a result, we didn’t get him into any kind of flow.They did nothing
that I saw to change things. We have to play the brand of basketball we’
ve been playing in the first halves of basketball games …I can't figure
it out. If I could, maybe we wouldn’t be having this difficulty.”
On the play of Kedrick Brown in guarding Allen Iverson
“I thought Kedrick really did a fantastic job on Iverson. Marcus (Banks
) did an okay job, but Kedrick, I thought, had a really strong defensive
game. He forced Allen into under 33 percent shooting. We put some length
on (Iverson). We tried to keep (Brown) fresh by moving Marcus in to play
(Iverson).We had a good effort on him and other players for them stepped
up.”

On the feeling after giving up leads
“It is very disheartening - another tough loss for us. We had it going
in the first half and they turned up the intensity in the second half.We
had a chance to win it down the stretch. It's very disheartening to lose
another game like this. We are losing so many close games. It’s tough
right now.”
On what the team needs to do to improve in the second half
“I really couldn’t answer that … I think we certainly have to go and
watch the film, but I know we have to clean it up as a team. We have to
clean up our third quarters because they are really costing us.It cost us
the New York game and obviously cost us tonight. We have to come out and
play better in the third.”

On why the Celtics fell behind in the second half
“I really don’t understand it. We thought we had learned our lesson in
the game versus New York.Someway, somehow, we play good first halves and
then, in the third quarter, we start to let teams back into the game. I
don’t know. I don’t understand that. We are not playing with a sense
of urgency for the whole 48 minutes.”
On his aggressiveness against the Sixers
“That’s how I wanted to be tonight - I wanted to come out there and be
aggressive and set the tone.I think that’show I have to be for the rest
of the year. I have to be out there and set the tone for our team and
give us the confidence on both ends of the court so we can go out there
and win on anybody’s court.”
