When your team is coming off a sub-.500 year for the second time in three
seasons and finished the regular season in the bottom half of the Eastern
Conference in rebounding and scoring defense, giving up more than 101 points
per game, chances are you probably have heard just about all the bad things
that can be said.

當你的球隊戰績近三個賽季以來，勝率二度低於五成；去年季賽籃板和防守的表現
在東區球隊裡都排名在B段班；每場比賽平均讓對手拿下101分。你可能已經聽過
幾乎所有可以被拿來大作文章的負面消息。

However, to 76ers forward Chris Webber, that's a good thing.

然而對七六人前鋒Chris Webber而言，這是個好事情。

"When everything you hear about you is bad, you realize you just need to play,"
 Webber said yesterday after practice at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine.

昨天在費城骨科大學練完球之後Webber表示：「當我們聽到大家對談論七六人時
都持負面的態度，你深深的了解到你所要做的，就是上場打球證明自己」。

"Some of it may be true and some may not, but that's not for us to judge...
it's for us to go out there, shut up and play."

Despite critics who don't envision a bright season for the Sixers, Webber said
with a straight face that he has no time for anything less than a championship
and doesn't need any more "moral victories."

雖然許多球評不看好七六人能夠開創亮麗的新球季，Webber用他嚴肅的表情說著，
「他已經沒有時間去追求其他東西了—除了一座總冠軍獎盃，而他也不再需要更

Maybe a championship is a bit far-fetched in the minds of some who think the
Sixers need to crawl before they walk, but Webber believes that as long as
the team has a more positive approach and outlook, the Sixers can indeed be
successful.

在許多人的眼裡，要七六人本季拿下冠軍有點牽強。他們認為要走路之前，得先
學會怎麼爬。不過Webber相信，只要這支球隊抱持著更樂觀的態度以及看法，

Webber didn't exactly say negativity was a huge problem last season, but when
you are coming off a lackluster season, how could it not be? The key this
season, he said, will be to remain a tight-knit team inside the locker room and
on the floor.

對於上個賽季的表現，Webber並沒有確切提到消極的態度是他們最大的問題。
然而去年死沉沉的球季表現，怎麼可以說沒有消極性的問題？Webber說本季

Having so many practices and few games during the preseason, Webber said, has
begun to get to the players. Patience seemingly is wearing thin and guys are
getting testy. He said that's a good sign, as practice time gets cut once the
season begins.

Webber認為，多場練習與幾次季前熱身賽已經開始影響到隊友，大夥似乎已經
沒有耐性，迫不及待地準備大展身手。他說這是好的徵兆，練習的時間縮短，
表示季賽已將到來。

Webber said the 2 weeks the Sixers spent in Europe helped build relationships
among teammates, but added that it doesn't mean they have team chemistry just
yet.

Webber說七六人在歐洲比賽的這二個禮拜，有助於隊友之間彼此建立良好關係。
但他認為這並不表示球隊已經有很好的化學效應。

"Chemistry isn't something you can just make up by having a bunch of people
do things together. You've got to want to win and want to have that chemistry,"
he said.

想贏球以及想建立球隊氣氛的決心」。

The Sixers also must remain healthy if Webber wants this "championship" talk to
be legitimate. Webber said he has "felt good" and plans to take his game up a
level, adding that some of the pain he played in last year is no longer there.
He battled knee and back trouble last season.

要讓Webber說的話更具說服力，七六人也必須保持球員的健康。Webber認為
他感覺很好，也準備讓自己的表現更上一層樓；去年受膝傷及背傷所苦的

Center Sam Dalembert practiced yesterday but still is nursing a strained left
hamstring and is being watched with a cautious eye, coach Maurice Cheeks said.
The Sixers want to make sure they don't put additional stress on the injury and
have it turn into something more serious, as was the case last season, when
pain from a pulled quadriceps moved up into his hip and lingered throughout
the season.

教練Maurice Cheeks提到：「隊上中鋒Dalembert昨天有參與球隊練習，但是
他扭傷的左腿肌腱仍然需要細心照料，而球隊也密切注意他恢復的情況」。

"I hope it's nothing more than [a strain], but we're still going to be cautious
on it," Cheeks said.

Webber, who has built a close relationship with Dalembert since joining the
Sixers in February 2005, said he thought the Sixers rushed Dalembert back too
fast last season.

上季七六人太急著讓小戴回到場上比賽了。

"If he's hurt, he's hurt," Webber said. "You have to have a sense of urgency,
because it's the beginning of the season, but at the same time, it is the
beginning of the season."

剛開始，而你的球員就受傷了；但往另一方面思考，球季也才剛開始」。

Webber said that if Dalembert had not missed time at the start of last season,
"we would have been in the playoffs."

Webber said he has a lot of confidence in Dalembert and compared his game and
potential to what he first saw in current Chicago Bulls forward Ben Wallace
when Wallace backed up Webber in Washington in the mid-1990s.

Webber說他對小戴非常有信心。小戴的潛力與條件，都可以跟九十年代中期在
華盛頓子彈當他替補，現為芝加哥公牛當家前鋒的Ben Wallace相比。

"I have a lot of confidence in him,but at the same time I'm on his [butt]
twice as much," Webber said. "[Dalembert] just has to make sure he has the
consistent mentality of a monster. If he focuses solely on rebounding and
blocking shots, then we're going to be a tough team to beat."

Webber說道：「我對他極具信心，同時也加倍嚴格地督促他。小戴必須確信自己

Webber's lofty goals for the team include leadership among players on and off
the floor. Last season, Webber thought the Sixers lacked the type of leadership
that newcomers Alan Henderson and Rick Brunson bring this season.

在Webber心目中，這支隊伍更崇高的目標，包括除了場上球員，板凳球員也要
具有帶領大家的領導能力。他認為上季七六人就是缺乏這種領導能力，而今年
補進的Alan Henderson以及Rick Brunson可以在隊上發揮這種功能。

"Their importance is just as important to the team as me and Allen's [Iverson]
is," said Webber, who is entering his 14th season. "Sure, we're going to get
a lot of credit and score a lot, but that doesn't equate to importance.
Importance is the whole team in every goal you have."

即將邁入球員生涯第14年的Webber說：「他們對球隊的重要性不會輸給我跟
Allen Iverson。當然我們可以獲得隊友信賴、可以得很多分數，但這不一定
是重要性的必要條件，能夠在整隻球隊設定的不同目標下，發揮各自的功能，
這就是球員的重要性」。
