76ers Preach Defense, Rebounding and Teamwork for 2006-07

Sixers President Billy King and Head Coach Maurice Cheeks are confident in
the fact that their team will do whatever it takes to win.

七六人總管 Billy King 和總教練 Maurice Cheeks 對他們的球隊將全力求勝
相當有信心。

“Allen wants to win, Chris wants to win, and the rest of the guys, they want
to win and so I think they will do whatever it takes for us to win and to be
a winning team.”

"Allen 想贏球，Chris 想贏球，而其他的球員也都想贏球，因此我想他們會努力
求勝，而這將使我們成為一支常勝軍。"

With most of the 76ers returning; a few new names such as rookies Bobby Jones
and Rodney Carney; and two additions to the staff, Jim Lynam and Moses
Malone, Cheeks feels more connected to the players and the team as a whole
going into his second year as the Head Coach of the Sixers. He stressed the
importance of teamwork during a press conference held at the Wachovia Center
for both himself and Billy King.

幾乎以原班人馬開始這個賽季的七六人；除了一些少數的新名字：像是新秀 Bobby
Jones 和 Rodney Carney；兩位教練團的新成員，Jim Lynam 和 Moses Malone(!!!)

“We have our staff coming back, and I think our staff knows the players a
lot better…The players understand us and I think (teamwork) is what we are
going to focus on.”

也了解我們，因此我想我們必須將焦點聚集在如何團隊合作上。"

To win, the plan is to focus on team defense and rebounding because that is
where games are won.

“We are going to rebound the ball, we are going to play defense, we’re
going to play as a team and those are the things that help basketball teams,”
 said Cheeks.

"我們要搶籃板、我們要防守、我們要像隻球隊一樣，而這些都是籃球隊成功的要素。"
Cheeks 如此表示。

“I want this year to be more like myself,” Cheeks continued. “I played a
more disciplined game, very defensive game and that’s what I want our team
to reflect…I played 30 years ago but it is still basketball and the things
that I did as a basketball player I want that to reflect on my team and again
it was discipline, defense, and it was teamwork”

"我希望今年可以打出我的風格，" Cheeks 繼續說。"我的比賽風格就是有紀律、重
防守，而這些都是我希望我的球隊能夠反映出來的。我三十年前這樣打球，而現在

Coach cheeks admitted that he might have placed too much emphasis on offense
last year because of the two superstars on his team, Allen Iverson and Chris
Webber.

Cheeks 承認他去年太過著重於進攻，因為他手上有兩位超級巨星， Allen Iverson
以及 Chris Webber。

“I focused a lot on offense and now this year for us to be a better
basketball team we are going to be committed on the defensive end of the
floor and that’s going to help us win basketball games.”

於防守，而那將使我們贏得球賽。"

Through training camp and their time in Europe as a part of NBA Europe Live,
the 76ers will have the chance to improve their weaknesses, bond with each
other, and grow as a team.

更加了解，然後團結起來成為一支球隊。

“I think this is a great chance for our guys to really bond,” said King. “
I think they will spend time with each other a little more, bond with each
other, spend time on the buses, and that’s where teams are made…That’s
what helps you win more games than making defensive stops and rebounding
because you want to do it because you have the respect of your teammates.”

"我想這對我們來說是個很好的機會，真正地團結起來，" King 如此表示，"我想
他們會多花一點時間在了解彼此，促進彼此的團結，在車上的時間，而這些就是

“I like a lot of a players, I believe in a lot of our players, I believe in
our coaching staff and I think that if we focus on the things that we need to
focus on which I know we will, were going to be okay,” stated King.

"我喜歡大部分的球員，我相信我們的球員，我相信我們的教練團而且我相信如果我們
專注在這些事上，我們就會很不錯。" King 如此表示。

According to King, individuals are not going to win games, nor are they going
to make great defensive stops alone. It takes a team.

根據 King，光靠個人的努力無法贏球，不管他們是否有好的防守技巧。這些必須
以球隊出發。

“There is not one player in this league that is going to be able to stop
another player individually, it has got to be a system where that if one guy
has the ball they have to try to score on two or three guys.”

"聯盟裡沒有一個球員光靠個人的力量可以真正守住另一個球員，這必須是一個
防守系統，讓對方有球員持球想要得分時，必須要越過兩三個人才行。"

Teamwork, defense, and rebounding are the new core strategies to help the
Sixers have a great season.

團隊合作，防守，籃板球是七六人要擁有好球季的關鍵策略。

King preached accountability in front of the Philadelphia press before the
end of the day. “From myself to Maurice, and the coaches, and to the
players, there is accountability, we all have to be accountable for
everything we do on the court, its going to take a team effort”

最後，King 在費城的媒體之前，傳達關於"負責"，"從我自己到 Maurice
，教練們，到球員們，我們都有責任。我們都必須對場上的事負責，這是
整個球隊的努力。"
