Fuel shortage: Iverson, Webber run out of gas in loss

PORTLAND - This is the tightrope the 76ers have been walking. Lose by three
in Atlanta, win by two in Denver, lose by four in Portland. When they fall,
they fall hard.

They fell, 95-91, to the Trail Blazers last night, committing a season-worst
19 turnovers, getting outrebounded, 49-44, getting hammered 19-10 off the
offensive glass and managing only 15 assists on 33 field goals.

but missed all seven of his shots in the second half. Allen Iverson, who
suffered a sprained ankle during Tuesday's victory over the Nuggets, went the
full 48 minutes and managed 28 points, but shot 2-for-11 in the second half.
Samuel Dalembert stayed on the court for 27 minutes, 12 seconds and managed
10 rebounds and six blocks, but also fouled out for the second straight game.

They had a chance to climb three games above .500 for the second time this
season. Instead, they fell, and they fell hard.

for three-plus seasons. They led by as many as seven points in the second half,
but they couldn't hold off the Blazers.

They wasted a 24-point performance from Kyle Korver, who shot 8-for-16,

glass. At the same time, their Maryland backcourt of Juan Dixon and Steve Blake
combined for 29 points and nine assists, committing just a single turnover.

The longer the evening went, the more it was obvious there was a fuel crisis;
Iverson and Webber were out of gas.

"Our guards did an unbelievable jobs on Allen Iverson, staying in front of him,
making it tough for him," said Blazers coach Nate McMillan. "I thought one of
the keys was to attack the paint, to control the boards, to control the free
throw line and to take care of the ball. We controlled the boards, we got to
the free throw line 32 times and we took care of the ball with only 15
turnovers. We won those [categories]."

拓荒者教練Nate McMillan說：「我們後衛群對Allen Iverson做了很好的防守，
