Grant Hill #33 Magic
He may not have known it at the time, but a little Magic influenced the NBA
career of Grant Hill well before he stepped foot in Orlando.

And by Magic, of course, that would be referring to NBA legend Magic Johnson.

“My favorite player was always Magic Johnson,” Hill said. “I found out that
he wore 32 when he was in high school, so I wore 32. When I went to
college[Duke], of course Christian Laettner had 32. But I also found out that
Magic wore 33 when he was in college, so I ended up wearing 33.”
「我最喜歡的球員一直是 Magic Johnson，」Hill 說。「我發現他高中時穿32號，所以
我也穿32號。進到 Duke 大學後，Christian Laettner 已經是32號了。可是我又發現

Although Hill and Johnson shared the same numbers throughout their young
careers, Hill decided to stick with his collegiate number that is now hanging
in the rafters at Cameron Indoor Stadium and brought him to two consecutive
national championships at Duke University.
Hill 年輕時都和 Magic 穿同樣的背號，但是當他穿著這件球衣帶領 Duke 連續奪得兩次
全國冠軍，並將它高掛於 Cameron Indoor Stadium 後，他決定和這個號碼永不分離了。
“When I got to the NBA, I had the opportunity to go to the number 32 like
Magic,” Hill explained. “But I had done well with 33 and kind of felt like it
had done well for me up until that point, so I stuck with it. That is pretty
much why I am wearing 33 now.”

As a high-school player at Grant High School in Van Nuys, CA, a young Gilbert
Arenas wore the number 25. But when he arrived at the University of Arizona in
2001, the rafters let him know that "25" was off limits.

25號已經被退役了，所以他不能穿。
“I walked into the arena and Steve Kerr’s number 25 jersey was hanging in the
rafters,” recalled Arenas. “That’s when I found out that I was going to have
to go with a new number.”

Ever the competitor, Arenas picked “0” as his new number, for no other reason
than to prove his detractors wrong.

“Zero is the number of minutes people predicted I would play my freshman year
at Arizona,” said Arenas, who played ended up playing 32.1 minutes per game in
his first season as a Wildcat. “I decided to go with it because I love proving
people wrong.”

The two-time All-Star guard is currently third in the NBA in minutes per game
at 42.2 and is the league’s fourth leading scorer at 29.2 points per game.

四高的29.2分。
