hAllen is a driving force

PHILADELPHIA — Lavoy Allen is on a roll.
Thrust into the 76ers’ rotation due to injuries to starting center Spencer
Hawes and rookie backup Nikola Vucevic, Allen is averaging 7.7 points and 5.0
rebounds in 21.7 per games over the past six outings.
In the Sixers’ first 16 games, Allen logged a total of 19 minutes and didn’
t play 13 times

由於料理鼠王(Spencer Hawes)跟Vucevic(Nikola Vucevic)相繼受傷的關係，這幾場臨
危受命上場的天普王，在過去六場平均21分鐘上場時間內，有著7.7分的表現與5.0次的
籃板表現。
76人開季的16場比賽中，天普王僅有19分鐘的出場時間，其中13場都在專心防守開特力。
The former Temple standout had a career-high 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting,
six rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes during Wednesday’s 98-82
victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Bulls.
But perhaps even more memorable was getting his initial driver’s license
last week.

“It went well - only took me one try,”Allen said after Thursday's hourlong
practice at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Asked why he waited so long, Allen, who turns 23 on Saturday, smiled and
said, “I don’t know. I needed six years of practice.”

Allen, the Sixers' second-round pick in June's draft, had been getting around
by hitching rides with teammates and public transportation. He’s gone to
several Sixers' games via subway.
The low-key Allen still doesn't have a vehicle, but is thinking about purcha-
sing a smart car.

“That’s Lavoy,” Sixers coach Doug Collins said. “That’s who he is.”
He’s also been a lifesaver for the Sixers, who are 5-1 in the six games with
Allen in the rotation.
The 6-foot-9, 255-pound Allen has surprised even his coach.
“I was scared to death we weren’t going to have enough big guys to win
during this (seven-game) homestand,” Collins said. “Lavoy was a Godsend. I
was shocked. I did not expect him to go out and do what he’s doing right
now."

Vucevic is healthy, but hasn’t played in the last two games. The main reason
is Allen, “who was behind Nik and there was a clear separation” prior to
the past two weeks, according to Collins.
“I asked the question, ‘How did we pick him up in the second round?’ “
Andre Iguodala said. “And they said his personality — he didn’t have a
high motor. That can affect the perception of him. But he’s definitely come
in and said, ‘I belong here.’ He’s earned his minutes.”
雖然Vucevic已經傷癒歸隊，但是在過去兩場比賽並沒有讓他回到輪值中，理由就是因為

Davis twice tried to back Allen in toward the basket. It didn’t work either
time. The second instance resulted in a fadeaway airball.
The Bulls’ Carlos Boozer tried the same thing Wednesday with similar results

The Sixers, who have won four straight, are likely to need Allen again Friday
night against the visiting Heat.
With Hawes having missed the past nine games because of a strained left
Achilles, Allen should be the first big man off the bench with veteran Tony
Battie starting. And he’s proven that he deserves some time when the Sixers
are back at full strength.
The star-studded Heat, who eliminated the Sixers in the first round of the
2011 playoffs, and Sixers are each 16-6.
“We can compete with anybody,”Iguodala said. “It should be a good matchup"

面對眾星雲集的熱火，去年第一輪就讓76人飲恨的熱火，現在我們的戰績是16-6
"我們可以對抗任何隊伍"Iggy說"這會是一場好比賽。"
