Injury forces Ferrero out
Top seed Juan Carlos Ferrero's tournament ended in agony after he was forced
to retire hurt during his quarter-final against local favourite Raemon
Sluiter.
The Spaniard had a break point for a 3-1 lead in the first
set when he twisted his right ankle after chasing a Sluiter forehand. Ferrero
fell to the ground in pain clutching his ankle, remaining flat on his back
until ATP trainer Juan Reque ran to his side.
Close to tears and with his ankle heavily strapped, a devastated Ferrero
added: "This is so difficult to accept.
"I was playing so well this week but life in tennis is like this.
I just turned my ankle and that was the end."
Tournament doctor Babette Pluim said the injury normally takes between
two to six weeks to heal.
Defending champion Nicolas Escude joined Ferrero in hobbling out of the
tournament with a hamstring injury. Escude, who was bidding to become the
first man to win a hat-trick of titles here, quit after half way through his
match with Sebastien Grosjean. Grosjean advanced with the score at 5-7 7-6
4-4.
Earlier, Roger Federer progressed to the semi-finals after an easy 6-2 6-4
win over Sjeng Schalken. The way I'm playing right now, my confidence is at
an all-time high - I want to keep this streak going Roger Federer
The fifth seed was in dazzling form as he stepped up his bid for a second
consecutive title. Schalken was out for revenge after Federer beat him in
the Davis Cup just two weeks ago. But the Dutchman was out of his depth for
much of the match and could not suppress a rampant Federer.
He was joined in the last four by doubles partner Max Mirnyi, who beat
Russia's Yevgeny Kafelnikov 7-6 7-6.

二到六星期的恢復期....看來接下來兩站的TMS賽事可能要缺席了
還有Nico也是...舊傷沒好還這麼逞強
帽子戲法很重要...身體顧好更重要
最近真是好多人受傷 ><
