連Moay都說小納豆不像16歲 :P Press Conference with CARLOS MOYA Moya vs. Draper 6:3 5:7 6:3 13.05.2003 Q: It was tough to shake him off today. A: I feel happy with the way I played today. He is a very good player. It really surprised me how he played. I think it was an exciting match to watch. I feel I was controlling the situation until I was a set and 4:2 up and serving for 5:2. But then, I kind of relaxed a little and he took advantage of it. I think it was a really good match. Q: Did you feel to sure about winning at 4:2? A: No, but it happens so many times when it looks like I have it easy to finish the match, I complicate myself and I relax a little bit and feel like I won the match already. But, he played those games brilliantly and then we were 5 all and I tried my best, but couldn't make it. But, still I feel I was controlling the match pretty well. Q: Do you feel that in the third set you were a little more consistent than he was? A: What I felt is that when I was concentrated and focussed and playing well, I was controlling the match. So, he had to keep playing that way in the second and I had to relax a little more for him to have a chance to win that set, but I played very solid at the beginning. But still, I think it was a very difficult match and he played great. Q: In the two months between the start of the clay court season and the end of the French you obviously play a lot of tennis. Is that why in first round matches you do take it a little bit easy to try and save your energy? A: It can be that. In my case at least, I'm playing many matches and maybe when you are a set up, I make a mistake against a qualifier in the first round. Maybe I relax a little. Still, I was happy that I was able to control the situation in the first set, because it could happen that ... He was playing very confident and could have gotten a chance to beat me maybe. Q: Where do you think your game is compared to where you want it to be 2 weeks from the French? A: Well, I don't think I'm playing that confidence as I was in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, but it happened every year. I don't know for what reason that in Rome and Hamburg I don't get to play my best, but hopefully I'm going to get ready for the French Open and maybe win few more matches here and get the rhythm again and the confidence back again. I'm not saying I'm not confidence at all, but I don't feel I'm playing a 100% as I was playing in Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Q: Is that anything to do with the courts? A: Maybe. The courts, the weather, the situation. I haven't been playing well here. Maybe only once in 99, I played semi-finals. Otherwise, I have a negative record here. And in a clay court tournament that doesn't happen very often with me, because I like clay court a lot. It must be one of the few tournaments where I have a negative record and I don't understand why, because it is still a clay court. So, hopefully I'm going to change that this year. Q: You've got an interesting match coming up next. Have you thought about that? A: It's going to be a special match for both of us, I think. We never played before, but we know each other very well since we have been practising a lot the last few years. I've seen his progression. He's amazing, he's only 16, but he's able to play some great tennis. For sure, he's going to give a 100% and fight to win. Q: When did you first hear about him? A: A long time ago. Maybe when he was 8 years old. He was the best in Mallorca in his age. He was beating all the guys easily. I didn't see him again until he was 12, but I heard about him. He really impresses me. Q: Don't you think it's particularly impressing that after what he did in Monte Carlo and then he qualified here. Because very often you have one good tournament at that age and then you have a setback again. But he seems to be just pushing forward all the time. A: It doesn't surprise me, knowing him. I know him very well. Right after Monte Carlo and Barcelona, he played a challenger and played the finals. I think he's a better level than challengers. Now, he comes here, he qualifies, he wins the match and he's still alive. It doesn't surprise me at all, the way he's playing, the way he behaves. He doesn't look like a 16 year old. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 61.230.98.186
