Q: How do you feel you played today?
A: I think I played a good match. Maybe it was not unbelievable, but I think
it was a fair match.
Q: And ahead of the French, how are you feeling generally about your form?
A: It's not 100%, but I still have two tournaments to play and we'll see. It's
tough to say. I'm not playing the best of my career, but I'm trying. I'm
practising, I'm fighting, I'm making everything. But, I need to win some more
matches.
Q: Have you noticed playing these clay court tournaments sort of a great
response at all, having won the French? Are you more well known?
A: Yes, that's true. If you win the French people recognize you more.
Q: And just generally on winning the French: What qualities would you say are
needed in a player to win the French?
A: The most important thing is: Everybody is fit, everybody plays good and
everybody is hungry to win the French Open, but you have to believe that you
can do it. I think that is the key, to believe that you can win. I think when
you win a Grand Slam, you feel that you can do it again, because you have done
it ones. When you did it ones, you just play.
Q: Can you comment on Kiefer's performance today?
A: I think, he's not that bad. He wasn't playing like for 3 months. He's
playing o.k., he's playing good.
Q: What was the reason why he lost today?
A: Because I played better than him (laughs).
Q: And what were the mistakes he made?
A: I think he needs some confidence and some rhythm. And maybe he did some
mistakes, but he needs confidence and to play some matches.
Q: Becker just commented that Kiefer waited too long and let you play too
much. What do you think?
A: Maybe. But, I don't think so. When he was serving, he was serving hard and
going to the net. When I'm serving, I have the advantage, so then he has to
wait. He cannot hit the ball all the time, because he's going to miss the
ball. I think he did that o.k.
