Robredo Roars Through; French Stars Four of Four

Top seed Tommy Robredo moved through to the second round of the Open de
Moselle in Metz with a 6-2, 7-6(5) victory over Austrian Jurgen Melzer.
Robredo, the 21-year-old from Spain, was making his first appearance on the
ATP circuit since losing in the first round of the US Open. Robredo, a
quarterfinalist at Roland Garros this year and a finalist in Stuttgart,
saved a set point in the second set before earning a second round meeting
with Frenchman Jean-Rene Lisnard, a 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 winner against Italian
veteran Cristiano Caratti.
WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID:
Robredo: "It wasn't easy, especially in the second set when he started
playing really well. I'm happy because it's my first match since the
US Open and it's difficult to come back when you don't play for a month.
"I hope to play as well against Lisnard. I obviously prefer to play on clay
but even if it's fast here you can still play from the back of the court.
I'm very motivated to do well these last few weeks of the year. There's a lot
at stake and I hope to do well here and at the [Tennis] Masters Series in
Madrid and Paris."
