Ferrero, Dent Ready for Bangkok Final
Top seed Juan Carlos Ferrero and No. 8 seed Taylor Dent
are set for the final of the first edition of the Thailand
Open in Bangkok. In Saturday's semifinals, the 23-year-old
Spaniard scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over Croatian Ivan Ljubicic,
seeded No. 6 this week. This will be Ferrero's sixth final
appearance of the year,and he's aiming for his fourth title
of 2003.
After a shaky start, 22-year-old Dent reached his second
ATP final of the season by defeating Finland's Jarkko
Nieminen 7-6(3), 6-2. The American captured the Memphis
title in February and has a 2-0 career record in finals.
Ferrero and Dent have met once before, at the Tennis
Masters Series event in Cincinnati last year, and the
Spaniard won the match in three sets.
