Ferrero out with chickenpox

Second seed Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero has pulled out of the $2.8 million
ATP Masters Series event with the chickenpox.

"I found out yesterday I had the chickenpox," said the 24-year-old.
"Sometimes things happen and you can't do anything about it.

"I am disappointed because I was looking forward to playing here."

Tournament doctors looked at Ferrero at his hotel room and diagnosed
his illness. They did not say how he got the chickenpox.

Jeff Salzenstein will replace Ferrero in the men's draw which has
been boosted this year to 96 players from 64.

Salzenstein will play wildcard Alex Bogomolov, of the US, in the first round.
