  一篇「由馬刺觀點」解釋為什麼Finley決定投靠的文章

  能吸引Finley前來投靠的主因--NBA冠軍及可跟Duncan配合
  an NBA championship and the chance to play alongside Tim Duncan

  太陽派了Amare Stoudemire跟教練D'Antoni
  熱火派了Pat Riley跟教練Stan Van Gundy(他也是Finley大學教練)
  灰狼派了KG跟GM Jim Stack
  但馬刺僅派了Popovich過去洽談
  Popovich什麼承諾都沒給..只給了「a chance to win」

  Popovich給了Finley一句話
  「If you come with us we want it to be for the right reasons
    and do it the way we do it.
    If you don't come, you don't come.」

  小註：其實這句話還是將去那裡的難題丟給Finley

  對於Finley選擇前來馬刺，Popo的感受較多是驚訝

  「I'm thrilled he came because he, on his own, decided what to do.
    I honestly felt that he might choose other situations, for a variety
    of reasons. When we got the word today he was coming to San Antonio,
    I felt we were very fortunate」
  「對於他在自己選擇下，願意前來馬刺，我感到相當驚訝，我一直認為他可能基於
    其他種種理由，而選擇其他隊伍，當我今天看到報導他選擇來馬刺時，我認為我
    們(馬刺)相當幸運」

  Popo當天究竟跟Finley說了什麼?

  Popovich said he simply told Finley who the Spurs are and what they
  had accomplished since drafting Duncan
  意思是他僅跟Finley說明馬刺隊的概況及馬刺官方從選了Duncan後的經營策略

  馬刺的一般事物總裁R.C.Buford則說

  Probably, the tradition that Tim, Pop and the guys have established here
  speaks for itself
  也許主因正是Duncan、Popo跟這群小伙子所建立的團隊說明了一切

  R.C.Buford對於Finley願意前來，給了下述的談話

  "The Spurs organization is very excited to add a person of the caliber of
  Michael Finley,"
  馬刺官方對於能夠招來Finley感到相當興奮

  "He has established himself as a very good player, and we envision that he
   will be an integral part of the Spurs culture going forward. It's a
   reflection on the program established by guys like Tim, Manu Ginobili,
   Tony Parker, Bruce Bowen and Pop and the rest of the team, that players
   such as Michael Finley and Nick Van Exel will sacrifice to join it."
  Finley過往的場上成績及場外行為都已經幫他建造一個「非常好球員」的表徵
  而他也將是馬刺文化的一種延伸
  以Duncan、Ginobili、Parker、Bowen、Popo及球隊其他球員所建造的球隊
  已經建構「可吸引Van Exel及Finley願意前來加盟」的環境

  關於薪資方面...目前可知道的是下季Finley薪資將在260萬左右
  但會簽下多久合約則尚未決定

  Finley經紀人Henry Thomas也對Finley決定發表談話
  "It was a difficult decision,"
  這是個相當困難的抉擇
  "He just felt the Spurs, as defending champs, were a group he could fit
   nicely into. He felt he could contribute and help them defend the
   championship."
  他(Finley)只是覺得如果他加入衛冕軍馬刺隊，他應該可以快速融入馬刺隊
  他認為他可對馬刺隊做出貢獻並且協助馬刺隊取得下季冠軍

  對於Devin Brown的去留，R.C.Buford則說
  We will continue to monitor all situations

  意思則是「目前並未放棄Brown，若有他隊出價，馬刺一樣會進行評估是否跟進」
