There are less than a handful of regular-season games left, so it's almost
time for individual awards to be handed out around the league. Here's the
way I see it:
Most valuable player
There's a major struggle going on here.
Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady are getting a few nods, but the bulk of
the voters are divided between Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett and
the current MVP, Tim Duncan.
Voters list five candidates and a listing at No. 1 carries the most
points (10). There are seven for No. 2 then five, three and one.
Duncan seems to have the edge in No. 1 votes from most voters, so the
award probably will be decided by the total number of points accrued.
An extensive survey by the Minneapolis Star Tribune received replies
from half of the 126 voters and Duncan had 33 first-place votes, Garnett
25.
Garnett deserves the attention. There'd be no real fuss here if he wins.
He has led the pack of Wolves again this season, involving himself still
more in the scoring department in an effort to erase criticism that he
doesn't demand the ball.
Without him, the Wolves bay in darkness.
But my vote goes to Duncan.
Tim's play has brought the Spurs the league's best record. He is the
go-to guy when the buckets are essential down the stretch.
Say what you will about kaleidoscopic offenses, but there's often nothing
more effective than the pitch to the likes of a Duncan or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
to ignite the scoring mechanism.
Some critics call Duncan's play boring or simply methodical.
They don't see the bounty of talent and skill in the methodology —
the timing, the footwork, the precision of the bank shots, the feints,
hooks, turns, rocks and rolls and the occasional up-and-unders and
galloping slams.
Duncan monopolizes the defensive eye and allows perimeter penetration
and wide-open 3-point looks.

投票者可以列出五位候選人,各票的第一名可以獲得10分,第二名五分,第三名一分,
鄧肯應該可以取的大部分人第一名的投票,因此這個獎項可能將必須要由總得分數來判斷

的言論閉嘴.沒有他,灰狼的人生是黑白的(原來阿都辣也有這種說法)

鄧肯帶領著馬刺攻下全聯盟最好的紀錄,
當場上有需要的時候,他絕對是那個"go-to man"
或許他沒有那變化莫測的進攻方式,
但是鄧肯如同賈霸一樣用最簡單,最有效的進攻方式一再的灌破了得分板上的數字

或許有些球評會說:鄧肯的進攻方式真的是很無聊~
但是他們應該沒有看到更重要的部分:
進攻時機,腳步運用以及準確的投籃率,或者是假動作,鉤射,轉身,跑動給球,
還是高低位策應,還有最後的灌籃
鄧肯絕對是防守的重心,並且幫助隊友形成切入得分或是三分投射的絕佳良機!

在一年前，有太多討論議題圍繞在 Tim Duncan 和 Jason Kidd 誰該獲得聯盟
MVP 的殊榮。Duncan 最終贏得了這個獎項，然而東區許多球迷們卻憤慨地強
調這是搶劫 Kidd 所應得的榮耀。
今年局面有所不同的是，有資格的候選人變多了。Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan,
Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady 皆有角逐 MVP 的資格。
我並無意去預測誰將會贏得此一殊榮，我只是想要提出我心目中的人選。
Kobe Bryant 是一個 sensational 的球員。 他得分逾四十的比賽中，是如此
地令人難以置信與不可思議，在那些晚上，要把他擋下來似乎是不可能的事。
Bryant 的表現是湖人隊今年一月之後戰績 35 勝 12 負的功臣之一，然而這
樣好的戰績卻未曾在 Shaquille O'Neal 回到湖人隊陣容之前發生。湖人在這
之前的戰績只有 13 勝 19 負，而 Bryant 也沒有把握機會證明 O'Neal 不在
身邊時，他能帶領球隊勝利。
所以我把 Bryant 從我的名單中刪去。
McGrady 可能是當今在 NBA 中最令人興奮的球員。他在聯盟得分王寶座上以
32.1 分獨佔鰲頭，也是每四十八分鐘得分最高的球員。
McGrady 不能在較弱的東區中帶領球隊爭得更好的種子排名而只屈居第七種子
，當然我們知道，沒有 McGrady，魔術隊只能夠爭奪樂透的順位是一件顯然的
事。但是魔術隊沒有因為 McGrady 而取得更好的戰績卻是事實。
在我也刪去了 McGrady 後，我的名單中現在只剩下兩個人。
現在才到了聯盟要選誰為 MVP 的難題所在。
這是 Kevin Garnett 不可思議的一年。.他今年平均 23.1 分，13.3 個籃板，
6.0 個助攻以及 1.54 個火鍋。 Garnett 也在 NBA 大三元榜中，以 6 此領
先群雄。
這也是 Tim Duncan 另一個 MVP 般表現的球季。Duncan 今年平均有 23.5 分
，12.9 籃板，3.8 個助攻，以及 2.85 個火鍋。這些數據有些甚至比去年他
贏得 MVP 時還要出色。
Garnett 的數據似乎又比 Duncan 要好一些，如果不是因為 Duncan 帶領球隊
打出了一個更好的戰績，那我將會有非常足夠的理由選擇 Garnett。
聖安東尼奧馬刺隊自從今年一月以號以後打出了 40 勝 7 負的戰績，現在他們
不但在中西組位居第一，更在西區獨佔鰲頭。在這個同時，明尼蘇達灰狼隊卻在
在西區排名的爭奪上自第四種子滑落至第六名。
有些人會爭論說 Duncan 對球隊是否真的有較大的挹注，所以將球隊戰績列入
投票的考量會是公平的嗎？
這是相當具有爭議性的議題。
在下半季中，Duncan 經常是必須在沒有 David Robinson 在身旁的情況下比
賽的。此時，Garnett 的夥伴是 Joe Smith 和 Radoslav Nesterovic，Duncan
有的則是 Malik Rose 和 Kevin Willis。
Duncan 在大部份的球季，他身邊擁有的是 Stephen Jackson, Tony Parker,
Bruce Bowen, Steve Kerr, and rookie Emanuel Ginobili 這些人。
而 Garnett 是和入選過全明星賽的 Wally Szczerbiak，加上 Anthony Peeler,
Rod Strickland, Troy Hudson and Kendall Gill 合作。
我看不出在隊友的比較上，Duncan 有佔什麼明顯的優勢。
也許並不是 Duncan 的隊友較 Garnett 的來的好，也許是 Duncan 能令他們更
好。也許在 Duncan 帶領他的球隊取得聯盟最佳戰績的同時， Garnett 也試圖
帶領他的球隊跟著他達到更好的層級。
在看了 Duncan 本季的每場比賽後，我要說 Tim Duncan 是馬刺本季成功的理
由。他幾乎已經帶領球隊登上中西組的冠軍而 Kevin Garnett 和他的球隊只
有再度得到另一個季後賽低種子的順位。
所以，雖然 Kevin Garnett 可能會是今年 NBA 的 MVP，不過我的選擇會是
Tim Duncan。
While Garnett may have the statistics, Duncan has statistics and
something else... Scoreboard.
