He quit, but he still participates in major tournaments that he's interested
in.
Supposedly he was recently in that itemmania one.
I told him i'd see him in Seattle when we parted ways at the airport. (Not
sure if I can deliver, but hey).
He's still very interested in professional gaming and e-sports in general I
think as when I mentioned hmm I forget what tournament infront of him, he
seemed really interested then asked all about it when is it, if he could play
etc... So he's still eager and likes to know about & participate in major
events. But shrug, he's just going to live at home and study and do what
tournaments are left, then plans to switch to SC2. As the professional gaming
scene should really start to take off in other parts of the world.
But he's got many interests and seems really passionate about a lot of things
in life. Kinda cool if you ask me.
Anyway, just yesterday, or a few days ago I can't quite remember time is
weird for me right now, he went on vacation for I think 1-2 months. Right now
he's in Croatia.. or Czech republic.. I forget.
If Draco would have still trained hard untill next WCG he would have beaten
every foreigner and with luck korean wcg would have sent only terrans and
even with more luck he could have won next wcg ^^
Testie
Piste, that's not necessarily true.
Piste,
For instance, Draco trained hard in Korea then went to IEST and did terribly
there. He took a break before ESL, and did outstandingly well there. He beat
Mondragon in an event before korea, then lost after korea. There's no
absolutes, only opinions. Until you can get into a players head and have an
honest conversation with them, you can't say for sure. I do not know why
Roger Federer seems more shaky and apt to lose his cool vs Nadal than he does
vs other opponents. I can speculate that it's because he's truly challenged,
and a part of him fears or is upset by that challenge. But I can't say for
sure. Only speculate.
Roger
Training hard doesn't necessarily mean getting better (though in most cases
it does). And it will very likely improve your general day to day game. In a
setting like Korea it will definitely improve your tourney ability and
confidence as well as there are more chances for a next shot easing the
pressure. (Though they have many other, more substantial pressures to deal
with as well. I am not saying their tourney experiences are easier.)
But what I mean is it doesn't mean performing well on the given day of one of
the only offline events a player is going to this year. Sometimes it's added
pressure, because you put all that time into it and with a single day, that
can all fail. Though it should give confidence, it can also rattle ones
nerves. If you don't practice, you may still perform well and not have wasted
all that time. If you practice hard and fail, it's tougher to swallow and
that may breed fear in some players.
That's why I genuinely question those that practice for WCG months in
advance. You have to think of it materialistically and simply life value
wise. Is the cost worth the gain? Some people start practicing early and put
months of gaming into the event, then fail due to nerves or simply not being
able to step their game up within that time like they had hoped.
