※ 引述《claygas (wcc)》之銘言: : 書名:新多益必考單字600 : 頁數:p.31 : 題目:2._____ conferences are a good way for employees to get in touch with : people in similar organizations. : (A) Associating : (B) Associated : (C) Associations : (D) Association : 疑問:為什麼答案是D不是B? 不是應該以associated當形容詞修飾 : conferences這個名詞嗎? : 8. When you register for out-of-town conferences, make room _____ : as soon as you decide to attend. : (A) accommodate : (B) accommodations : (C) accommodating : (D) accommodated : 疑問;為什麼是B不是A? make後面不是要加原型嗎? : 謝謝各位解答~~~ Does the word before a noun must always be an adjective? The answer is "not always." It is actually quite common (and grammatically correct) to use a noun as an adjective to modify another noun. For example, In the phrase "mountain bike," the noun "mountain" is used as an adjective to modify another noun "bike." Some other examples are: a mail man, room services, paper towels, pickle jars, bacon sandwiches, dog food, car dealers, etc. So, we may approach the problem 7.) by the process of elimination. C.) is obviously wrong, so it is the first one out. Now, in the sentence, let's consider this: Is something "associating" with "conferences", or is something "associated" with "conferences"? The answer is no, so both A.) and B.) cannot be right. So we are left with D.), and this usage is cultural. In America, there are lots of professional associations (工會), many of them hold regular meetings. To attend such a meeting is a good way to meet other people in the same trade. The question 8.) is similar to 7.)
