Folks,
Several popular web pages that I had maintained at PSU
have been moved to their permanent home at coolwx.com
These are:
Decoded Offshore Buoy/Ship Data Page
View text, graphics, hurricane-focused maps of buoy & ship data from around
the world, updated hourly with a four day archive. The original source
of decoded offshore weather data started in 1994.
Hourly U.S. Weather Statistics Page
Hourly updated maps of US weather and statistics, including maximum
and minimum US temperature, pressure, wind, dewpoint, etc. Also curious
what percentage of the population (or land) is experiencing temperatures
above 90F? 100F? Below 32F? Cloudy?
Internet User Weather Observations Page
Submit your weather observation from anywhere in the world, and view
observations from other internet users from around the world. An average
of 200-300 weather observations are submitted daily, including several from
Canada, South Africa, and occasionally other countries. Also view maps
and charts of your observations -- you can use the web page as a database
for your own weather station. There is an archive of nearly half a million
observations dating back to January 1997, making it the largest and longest
online collection of user-submitted weather observations. View first hand
accounts of some of the major storms of the past 10 years.
Northeast Real-Time/Conventional Mesoscale Analysis (now expanded to all of US)
High resolution gridded hourly analyses of METAR/SHIP/BUOY observations
of more conventional fields (temperature, pressure) and more technical
(moisture convergence, wet bulb temperature, theta-E, frontogenesis).
Analyses are available on the US, regional and even state-scale.
State-focused maps of METAR/SHIP station model plots are also available for
manual analysis.
Eta/AVN Forecast Precipitation Type and Accumulations
The forecast precipitation type at 3hrly intervals are displayed
in shaded maps for the Eta and AVN models, updated with every 6hr
run. Also, you can see the accumulated snow, rain, sleet, freezing
rain as forecast by each of these models out to 84hr.
There was a large group of users of these pages and I want to
ensure them that the web pages are still running and now have a
permanent home.
Some of these pages have been running continuously since 1994
and are among the most unique weather web pages out there, even 10 years
later. Each of the web pages has improved in style and format, making
them much easier to navigate the wealth of information provided. Check
them out at coolwx.com
Thanks!
Bob Hart
