How did you become a musician?
Actually, it was a little strange. I was
asked to join a band when I was 18. The
band leader just wanted me to sing because
he liked my voice. I did not know anything
about music then, although when I listen to
music, I pick up things very fast.
Then I started singing while I was still a
student. I did this for about three years.
Later, I started to learn to play the guitar
on my own. I bought tapes and read books
about it. I wanted to be more than just a
singer.
There was a time when I wrote many songs.
My management company thought the album
released by Singaporean artists lacked
originality. So they asked me to produce
my first album.
