Crowds gather Monday’s crowd figure of 34,930 set a new all-time record for the tournament. With ‘only’ 34,759 fans through the turnstiles, yesterday’s figure was slightly down on Monday, but still a record for a Tuesday. Gasquet searches partner Richard Gasquet is out of luck when it comes to playing in the men’s doubles. Last year his intended partner Rafael Nadal pulled out, and this year it has happened again, with Cyril Saulnier withdrawing. Gasquet has taken the news in good humour though. “Anyone wanna play with me?” he quipped in his press conference. Richard will get to play in the mixed doubles though, alongside Tatiana Golovin. Ferreira equals Edberg South African Wayne Ferreira has equalled the record previously held by Stefan Edberg for the number of consecutive appearances in Grand Slams (54). Beaten in the first round by Jurgen Melzer, Ferreira should overtake the legendary Swede at next month’s Wimbledon. Internet in The official Roland Garros web site has set new records for the numbers of visitors to the site over the first two days. On Monday, 1,363,627 visits were recorded (up 82% compared to last year) for a total of 16,390,641 page views.
