Roddick easily beats Japanese teen star Kei Nishikori to reach SAP Open
quarterfinals

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—Top-seed Andy Roddick easily defeated Japanese teen
star Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-4 to advance to to the quaterfinals in SAP Open on
Thursday.

頭號種子Andy Roddick以6-2，6-4輕鬆打敗日本新星錦織圭晉級八強


Roddick needed just 63 minutes to defeat Nishikori, who saw his eight-match
ATP win streak snapped by the No. 6 player in the world.

Roddick opened the match by taking a commanding 3-0 lead and breaking
Nishikori’s serve before the youngester won a game. Roddick, who’s won
twice at the SAP Open, came back after losing that game to win the next two
including breaking the teen’s serve again.

一開賽Roddick就保有一次破發的優勢，以3-0取得領先。丟掉一局後，Roddick連贏兩局
包括一次破發，拿下第一盤。他在這項賽事拿過兩次冠軍


In the seventh game of the first set, the Roddick barked at the young player
as they exchanged shots at the net. Nishikori held his cool and didn’t
respond and just walked away.

第一盤的第七局要換邊時，Roddick對錦織咆哮。錦織保持冷靜，並沒有回應Roddick，
只是默默的換邊


“I didn’t understand a word he said,” Nishikori said. But when pressed he
acknowledged that he did in fact understand what Roddick had shouted at him
but just didn’t want to repeat it before the press.

錦織說"我根本不懂他在說什麼"。但賽後記者會他承認其實他懂Roddick在對他吼什

But Roddick had no trouble repeating what he had said. “I told him to stick
me with it the next time. I just let him know that he needs to finish it. I
had no problem with it. But it was a monologue.”

但Roddick持續對他喊話。"我叫他要死纏著我，我只是讓他知道他必須打完比賽。我堅持
得下去，但我只是在自言自語"


Roddick, who’s has stated that he wants to be more aggressive this season
proceeded to win the next game to win the first set.

Roddick說他今年會打得比較積極。接著他贏了下一局，也拿下了第一盤。


In the second set, Roddick broke Nishikori service in the fourth game but
Nishikori came to break Roddick in the next.

第二盤Roddick在第四局破了錦織的發球局，但之後錦織回破。


In their final game, Nishikori took Roddick to deuce before making two
critical errors. He missed an easy slam shot that would have given him the
advantage and then saw his saw his volley go wide that gave Roddick the match.

最後一局，錦織把Roddick逼到平分前犯了兩個要命的失誤。他錯過了一個容易的扣殺(?)
，這扣殺能給他局點，但他扣出界讓Roddick拿走了比賽。


“I made too many easy mistakes,” Nishikori said. “I didn’t take advantage
of the many chances I had. But overall I was happy with the way I played.

"我犯太多簡單的失誤，並沒有利用我的機會，但整體而言我滿意自己的表現" 錦織說


Nishikori seemed to defend well against Roddick’s overbearing serve. Roddick
was able to only land seven aces.

錦織對於Roddick的重砲發球回得不錯，他只讓Roddick發出七記ace


“It was one the best matches I’ve played in some time,” Roddick said. “I
was a little tight coming into the match. But I’m very impressed with him.”

Roddick說 "這是我打得最好的比賽之一，快結束時有點放不開，但我對他表現印象深刻"


Roddick wanted to make his presence known to young player by trying to
distract him by not using his service as his big weapon and by trying to play
between the lines.

“Things were happening for him without him thinking so I wanted him to think
about other stuff and not how well he’s playing,” he said. “There was
nothing personal in it. He’s probably not that happy with me for doing that.
But I don’t need any young friends.”

"他比賽時可能沒多想，但我要他想想別的，不只是他打得有多好。這完全沒私人因素，
他可能不太高興我這樣做，但我也不太需要交一些年輕朋友"


In early evening match, James Blake overcame first-serve problems to beat
Jesse Levine 6-3, 6-4 to move onto the quarterfinals.

The second-seeded New Yorker, ranked ninth in the world, will face Robby
Ginepri in the quarterfinals. Last week, Blake lost to Nishikori in the final
at Delray Beach, Fla.

“I thought I played well,” Blake said. “I felt comfortable and although I
had a slow start I was able to put pressure on Jesse.”

Blake will face Robby Ginepri in the quarterfinals in a tournament he’s
never won.

“I know how good Robby can play,” said Blake, who defeated Ginepri last
week in the semifinals at Delray Beach.

In afternoon matches, John Isner beat third-seeded German star Tommy Haas
4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Isner, the ATP Tour’s second-tallest player at 6-foot-9, will face Spain’s
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the quarterfinals.

Haas, ranked 26th in the world, was three match points from winning the
second set in a tiebreaker before the 106th-ranked Isner rallied to win.

Fifth-seeded Madry Fish also advanced, beating Germany’s Denis Gremelmayr
6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3 to make the quarterfinals for the second week in a row.
Fish will face Roddick in the quarterfinals.

Taiwan’s Lu Yen-hsun beat American lucky loser Wayne Odesnik 6-4, 6-4. Lu
will face fourth-seeded Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in the
quarterfinals.

盧彥勳以兩個6-4打敗美國的lucky loser Wayne Odesnik，下一輪將面對第四種子V娃的
未婚夫。
