MOSCOW (Reuters) - Yevgeny Kafelnikov, replaced during Russia's Davis
Cup triumph last weekend, has undergone surgery to remove a varicose vein
in his left leg in a Zurich hospital.
"Everything went well and he feels fine right now," said Russian tennis
chief and Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpishchev after a telephone conversation
with Kafelnikov.
Tarpishchev said that he expected Kafelnikov to be back in Moscow on
Thursday as the Russians plan to honour their Davis Cup heroes the following
day.
