At Wimbledon, failed to become the first British man since 1938 to reach the
final when he fell to eventual winner Goran Ivanisevic in a rain-delayed
semifinal that took place over three days. Ivanisevic won 7-5, 6-7 (6), 0-6,
7-6 (5), 6-3.
Won the Copenhagen Open by defeating Andreas Vinciguerra, 6-3, 6-4. Didn't
drop a set as he won the title in Basel.

Won the AAPT championships by defeating Mark Philippoussis 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3.
Reached the final at Rotterdam and Indian Wells losing to Nicolas Escude and
Lleyton Hewitt, respectively.
