這篇其實是稍早那篇報導的的詳細版
提到了換教練、發球問題、退休的可能性，不過我覺得應該還不會退啦。
還是很心碎就是了：（

Escude Admits Career Is on the Line (31 July 2003, Sporting Life)

The hero of France's 2001 Davis Cup triumph, Nicolas Escude, has revealed
that the injury which forced him out of this year's Wimbledon may have
serious long-term consequences for his career.

He is already envisaging the worst-case scenario of retirement due to the
serious hip injury which caused him to quit his second-round match at
Wimbledon against Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The 27-year-old, whose victory in the singles against Wayne Arthurs gave
France victory over Australia in the 2001 Davis Cup final, will not play
again this year due to the injury which he believes has been brought on
by his service action.

He has been told by doctors that the pain will not go away, as it is brought
on by osteoarthritis to his hip.

The degenerative affliction is clearly a concern. Escude said: "I know what
I have, and of course I am worried about my career."

He has been forced to admit his career is at stake and told L'Equipe: "It
is painful when the weather is wet or when I play with my son.

"I will not be back into action until 2004 but by then there is no question
of being operated on because success is not guaranteed.

"I went to see Professor (Gerard) Saillant who told me that such an operation
has never been tried on a professional sportsman, set to train five to six
hours every day, whereas it can work on someone who remains sit at a desk. 

"An operation means I would have to stop for six months without being sure I
can play again.

"What I am going to do then is to stop everything and follow a medical
treatment based on injections. It will take three or four months and we
will see what happens."

Escude, who parted company with his coach Arnaud Casagrande just after
Wimbledon, has not lost hope of being able to extend his tennis career,
and he will receive a protected ranking, based on his reputation and
previous results, should he be unable to play again this year.

"I will resume training at the end of September with two months of intensive
physical work," he added.

"Then I will take a 10-day break before picking up the racket again with
the aim of changing my serve, because this is my action that triggered my
hip problem.

"I could have tried to play again in autumn, but I would have had to defend
all my points whereas by starting again in January 2004 I will have a
protected ranking."
