Played two years at Northwestern University, where he majored in linguistics.
Was the No. 1 ranked player in the country during his sophomore year.
Considers his greatest amateur accomplishment to be leading his team to the
Big 10 championship and winning back-to-back US Grass Court National
Championships.
Greatest non-tennis sports memory is winning his fraternity league basketball
championship at Northwestern. Todd was three-for-three in 3-point shots in
the game.
Received the ATP Tour Most Improved Player Award in 1993 and Tour
Sportsmanship Award in 1993 and 1994. President of the ATP Tour Player Council
1995-1997 and 1998-1999.
Started the Todd Martin Development Fund in 1994 in his hometown of Lansing,
Michigan., with longtime junior coach Rick Ferman. In 1999, the charity
announced that the fund had surpassed the initial financial goal of funds
necessary to create an endowment and will expand it's Leadership Development
Program, which will support more than 300 children in the Lansing area.
Participated in the Nelson Mandela Tribute Tournament in Cape Town, South
Africa in December 1997.
A board Member of the Tim and Tom Gullikson Foundation.
Threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium in New York during the 1999 US
Open.

Won the title in Sydney. Competed for the United States' Davis Cup team

Finished the year in the top 60 for the eighth time in nine years.
Advanced to his 10th Grand Slam quarterfinal at the the Australian Open --
ousting Pete Sampras along the way -- before falling to eventual champion
