Swede Magnus Norman says he considered quitting tennis because of a
run of injury problems.
The 26-year-old, who reached the French Open final and finished fourth in the
2000 Champions Race, underwent an emergency knee operation on Thursday.
"Right now, hours after the operation, I've had many dark thoughts," Norman
said in Swedish daily Expressen on Saturday.
"There have been moments when I've had thoughts of quitting tennis.
"(The knee) hurt too much, I didn't have any choice but to have the operation.
"I don't want to play with pain any more. I've done that for two years."
Norman is likely to miss the Australian Open but will hope to get back to
form as the season goes on.

[網壇動態]瑞典名將諾曼不堪長期傷病困擾,已萌生退役想法
[路透斯德哥爾摩電]屢受傷痛困擾的瑞典球員諾曼(諾文)表示，因為近期傷病纏身，已考
慮過退出網壇。
26歲的諾曼曾打進法國公開賽決賽，並在2000年冠軍爭奪戰中年終排名第四。他周四接受
了一次膝部緊急手術。
「現在，在手術結束幾個小時後，我有很多灰黯的想法，」周六出版的快報(Expressen)
援引諾曼的話說。
「有些時候我想過退出網壇。」
「(膝蓋)疼得非常厲害，我別無選擇，只能接受這次手術。」
「我再也不想帶著傷痛參賽了。我那樣做了兩年了。」
諾曼因長期的髖部傷勢而缺陣後，今年早些時候復出賽場，但可能因傷缺席明年的澳洲公
開賽。
他最近一次巡迴賽亮相是在10月份的斯德哥爾摩公開賽上，當時首輪負于阿拉齊(阿拉斯)
