MONICA SELES has withdrawn from the $US2.1 million WTA and ATP Masters Series ev
ent here with a foot injury.
"I'm really disappointed I won't be able to make it," said Seles, ranked 10th in
the world.
Seles, who won the event in 1992, injured her left foot while practising at her
home in Florida. She is a nine-time Grand Slam winner.
Seles lost to Swiss star Martina Hingis in the semi-finals at Indian Wells last
year. Last month, she lost to Justine Henin in the Dubai Open final.
Her next WTA event is scheduled for Miami later this month.
