Hewitt skips rest of season Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt has withdrawn from all remaining ATP events this year in order to concentrate on the Davis Cup final. Hewitt will miss next week's Madrid Masters, along with injured Argentine pair Guillermo Coria and David Nalbandian. "I've got a special feeling for the Davis Cup," said Hewitt, who will lead Australia's Cup bid against Spain. "The final is in front of my home crowd and I want to ensure I'm ready." Hewitt, who began the year as world number one, has had a disappointing year but has saved his best for the Davis Cup. In Australia's semi-final against Switzerland, he recovered from two sets down to beat Wimbledon champion Roger Federer and clinched a place in the final for his country. By pulling out of the remaining three weeks of tournament play, Hewitt has turned down the opportunity to defend his Masters Cup title. The 22-year-old is 10th in the Champions Race, with only the top eight to qualify for the prestigious event in Houston. Nalbandian is also in danger of missing out on a place at the Houston tournament. The 21-year-old former Wimbledon finalist is eighth in the Race but is struggling to recover from a wrist injury he picked up in his epic US Open semi-final defeat to Andy Roddick. He and compatriot Coria were both forced to miss Argentina's Davis Cup semi-final defeat to Spain. Coria, who has a hamstring problem, has already qualified for Houston after reaching the French Open final and picking up four ATP titles this season. World number three Andre Agassi has already revealed he will not be travelling to Madrid as he spends time with wife Steffi Graf and new-born daughter Jaz. Britain's Greg Rusedski is also a doubt. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.219.101.22
