The 20-year- old Serb, who until this week had not won three consecutive matches since March, recovered from a nightmare 17-minute first set to beat Clijsters 1-6 6-3 6-4, and thereby reach her second Zurich final. She was runner-up to Lindsay Davenport two years ago. "Hopefully this is where I start again," a delighted Dokic said, "I definitely needed a tournament like this, and especially a win like this." The 25th-ranked Dokic began to turn the match around early in the second set. She broke to lead 4-2, and when Clijsters failed to convert three break-back points in the next game, Dokic grew visibly in confidence. She only broke Clijsters twice in the whole match, but she was serving well enough that once she took the Belgian?s serve in the fifth game of the final set, she looked good enough to win, and sealed her victory in an hour and 19 minutes. Dokic's victory scuppered what looked a certainty: a seventh all-Belgian final of the year. But to win the title she will have to beat the other Belgian, Justine Henin-Hardenne, who will be playing for the world No 1 ranking, even though she says this isn't a priority for her this week. The world No 2, who has talked of suffering from end-of-year tiredness all week, played the first set of her semi-final against Nadia Petrova with a protective tendon strapping over her right knee, the result of a mild inflammation, but it didn't hamper her enough for the 22-year-old Russian to take advantage. In a slightly disappointing match, Petrova certainly had her chances. She came back from 0-2 in the first set to have points for 3-2, but made too many errors . She narrowed the Belgian's lead from 5-2 to 5-4, but again the mistakes came back to give Henin-Hardenne the first set. Petrova led 2-0 in the second, only to see her opponent bounce back, and the break of serve for 5-4 in the second proved decisive, Henin-Hardenne winning in 81 minutes.
