Dokic plays too much, says Austin

NEW YORK, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Jelena Dokic's exhausting schedule is partly
to blame for her slump in form, former world number one Tracy Austin said
on Thursday.
"For me, Dokic plays too much tennis," Austin said after the Belgrade-based
player lost in the second round of the U.S. Open to Mary Pierce.
"This is her 23rd event of the year. Kim Clijsters has played about 15
events and people talk about her playing an awful lot.
"Take your weeks off, get in shape, get focused for each tournament.
"Travelling week in week out just wears on you mentally and physically."
Dokic, a former world number four who has slumped to 23rd in the rankings,
lost 6-2 6-7 7-6 to France's Pierce.
