It’s one of these days and I can honestly say I have no idea what happened out there. I just want to try and forget today as quick as possible." "It’s my second tournament on clay. I came out here and played three tough matches. It’s great. I can’t remember how many times I’ve played this tournament, but I can’t even remember making it past the second round the last four times I’ve played. It’s very slow here and very heavy. I played some good matches, so I can definitely take something positive from this week." "He’s just a tough player, especially on clay. He didn’t miss a ball out there. He’s fairly quick around the court. He hits the ball well off both sides. He’s just a solid player." "For a long time, there was always something aching, hurting. It’s good to go out there and feel good. I just have to get the game together. Maybe I was kind of feeling too good (laughs)." Gaudio: "I was surprised how easy it was. He didn't play his best tennis while I played well. I hope I can do the same tomorrow. I was calm before the match, I did not think that I could become the fourth Argentinian player to reach the semifinals. That didn't put pressure on me." "Now with four Argentinian players in the semifinals, it's great. If I don't win, then a countryman will win. It's important for our country that has a lot of problems right now." Calleri: "I’m very happy because this is my first Tennis Masters Series semifinal and we are already three Argentinians in the semifinals here." "I’ve played well all week apart from the first round, but then I played really well against Roddick and all the other matches." "I started working very hard in August with my physical trainer and my coach and those sacrifices are the [reason] for my success now." "For Argentinian tennis to have three players in the semifinals here is a historical achievement, if it’s four it will be even more important. It will mean that an Argentinian will win the title on Sunday. This shows how powerful Argentinian tennis is. It’s also good for the people in Argentina, they’ve had a lot of bad news including lately the floods in Santa Fe." SEMIFINAL PREVIEW The four Argentines in Saturday's semifinals at the Tennis Masters Hamburg have already made history. Never before have four Argentines reached the semifinals at Tennis Masters Series event. One of the remaining four players in Hamburg - Agustin Calleri, Gaston Gaudio, Guillermo Coria or David Nalbandian - will become only the second Argentine since 1990 to win a Tennis Masters Series event. (Guillermo Canas was the first Argentine since 1990 to win this honor when he won the trophy in Toronto last summer.) And all four semifinalists are seeking their first Tennis Masters Series shield. The No. 8 seed Nalbandian continues to prove he's a master on all surfaces. The Wimbledon finalist and two-time ATP winner has had mixed results this year, but his performance thus far this week has vaulted him to the No. 16 spot of the ATP Champions Race, a jump of 14 positions. He now meets Calleri, who won his first ATP title in Acapulco and reached the final in Estoril earlier this year. Nalbandian and Calleri have met five times, and Nalbandian has won four of those encounters, including earlier this year in Scottsdale. The only other seed left in the draw, No. 12 seed Guillermo Coria has blazed through the draw this week, not dropping a set. Coria has emerged in recent weeks as one of the most feared players on clay, reaching the final at the Tennis Masters Monte-Carlo (l. to Ferrero) and boasting a 16-4 record on clay. He now takes on another clay powerhouse, Gaston Gaudio, who has the best clay record on the ATP circuit so far in 2003 with a 24-7 record on the surface. He reached back-to-back semifinals on clay in Vina del Mar (l. to Rios) and Buenos Aires (l. to Coria). He also reached the third round at Tennis Masters Monte-Carlo (l. to eventual champion Ferrero), the quarterfinals at Barcelona (l. to Safin) and Valencia (l. to Saretta) and the third round at the Telecom Italia Masters in Rome (l. to Ferrero). Coria and Gaudio have met three times, with Coria claiming two of those matches from the back of the court I could dictate the points. So, he didn’t know what to do."
