http://www.atptennis.com/championstour/news/stories/london_masters.asp London to Host Delta Tour Masters in 2004 The ever-popular Honda Challenge will be upgraded to the Masters of the Delta T our of Champions in 2004, with more players, an extra day of action, and a winn er-take-all prize of $100,000 on offer to the champion. Throughout the year players will compete for points on the Road to the Royal Al bert Hall, where a field of 12 champions will do battle. “London is our biggest and best tournament and the Royal Albert Hall is the perfect venue, so it is only right that this event becomes the Masters of the Delta Tour of Champions,” said John McEnroe. “I've won here three times before and now that the event is getting the status it deserves I'm even more motivated to win it again in 2004. The $100,000 on offer to the winner will ensure there's plenty of players trying to stop me though!” The top ten players in the Delta point standings will gain automatic entry into the end-of-season extravaganza, with two wild cards given out to fill the rema ining two spots. The event will run between November 30 and December 5. The exact format is stil l to be decided, but players will be split into groups as in previous years and a round-robin format used to decide the semi-final line-up on Saturday. The fi nal will be played on Sunday 5 th December. BBC Television will once again broadcast the action after signing up to continu e its coverage of the tournament until 2007. This year all five days of the tou rnament are being broadcast on BBC 1 or 2. In 2004, the Delta Tour of Champions is scheduled to stop in Rome (Italy), Brus sels (Belgium), the Algarve (Portugal), Graz (Austria), Eindhoven (Holland), an d Monte Carlo (Monaco), with two as-yet unconfirmed tournaments to be added in Germany and France. To be eligible to compete on the Delta Tour of Champions, players must have bee n a World No.1 during their competitive playing careers, a Grand Slam singles f inalist, a singles player in a victorious Davis Cup team, and no longer active on the ATP tour.
