Annacone: Henman can win Wimbledon

Paul Annacone (USA) believes that new charge Tim Henman has what it takes to
win Wimbledon and the British number one will do so in the next three years.
"I absolutely think Tim can win Wimbledon, I've thought so for many years,"
Annacone told BBC Radio Five Live.
"I think he will win whether it is this year, next year or the year after but
if he doesn't, as long as he has done all the right things leading in,
preparing, to me that is a win-win situation. If he keeps working towards it in
a certain way then I believe he can give himself the best chance to hold that
trophy up."
Henman has reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon four times and Annacone is
confident that he can use the lessons learnt from his seven-year spell with
legend Pete Sampras (USA) to help Henman realise his life-long dream.
"I've seen success for a long time,” explained Annacone. “I'm a student of
the game and have tried to soak up as much information as I can. A great player
like Pete does so many things so well there are lots of little things that I
have stored away to try and improve Tim's game.
"One of the things we've already discussed on the telephone is his ability to
have faith in a plan to build his game strategically. If he is playing the
right way we can make sure he walks off the court knowing if he has won or
lost on his terms.
"I think I can help Tim with that and I know him pretty well as a person so I
think it's a pretty good match.”

「他的發展空間還很大！」英國漢門新教練安納康尼，8日在接受BBC時況訪談
時表示，自己相信這名英國第一好手已具備在溫布頓公開賽奪冠的條件，且有贏得其
他大賽的能耐。
現年40歲的安納康尼曾是職業球員，拿過3座單打、14座雙打冠軍；他曾是奪
得7座溫布頓冠軍山普拉斯的教練；昨日在接受BBC訪問時，他說：「我對漢門奪得溫
布頓冠軍擁有絕對的自信，我擁有這念頭很多年了；一名像漢門這樣擅長截擊、移位
並在草地上打球的人，怎麼可能不會拿下溫布頓呢？」
安納康尼補充說：「我相信他將奪得溫布頓，如果不是今年，也許是明年或後
年；就算他沒有達到這目標，我想他也會贏得一場又一場比賽，並會繼續朝這目標邁
進，直到他捧起獎杯為止。」
漢門近5年來有3次闖入溫布頓4強賽，但全都無功而返，今年更在8強被法國葛
羅尚淘汰出局；雖然漢門下半年走出肩傷並贏法國名人賽冠軍，但他即將29歲了，時
間是不會等人的。
但安納康尼表示，自己將運用指導山普拉斯7年的經驗，協助漢門達成他的願
望；他說：「我與漢門就像朋友，跟他很好溝通；我想過去山普拉斯遭遇的問題與奪
冠經驗都能幫漢門在比賽渡過難關；這不僅對漢門有益，對我來說也是項挑戰，因為
在山普拉斯旁見識到太多勝利，我必須將這感覺放下，與漢門一同面臨2004年即將始
的賽季，我們將在接下來的比賽中創造新的高峰。」
