McEnroe seeks British passion McEnroe takes his first coaching class at Queen's Club John McEnroe vowed to reignite British tennis after presiding over his first co aching session for the Lawn Tennis Association on Monday. The three-times Wimbledon champion was at Queen's Club in London to cast his ey e over the country's junior squad. McEnroe has an open-ended coaching pact with the LTA which allows him to work w ith performance director David Felgate when his timetable permits. "I want to put fire into those players' bellies," the 44-year-old said. The LTA is keen to use McEnroe as much as possible to inspire the next generati on of promising British tennis players. He has expressed interest in helping out on a more permanent basis, but a busy television schedule and financial constraints have ruled that out for now. An LTA spokesman said: "We have an ongoing relationship at the moment and we ar e working to find areas or times when we can work together. "John is not going to be working with Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski, but he is g oing to be involved with some of the country's most promising junior players." In other Monday news, the LTA announced profits of £25.8m from this year's Wim bledon tournament. The total is down significantly on previous years largely due to an economic do wnturn in the wake of the 11 September terrorist attacks. All the profits will be ploughed back into the development of British tennis. "The LTA plans to utilise the funds in its three key priorities of attracting a nd retaining junior players, creating a vibrant and accessible club culture and delivering its performance plan," a statement said. -- 嗯,Mac是不可能跟Henman或老魯合作啦…XD -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.64.85.25
