Kuerten is hoping for more success in Athens

Former world number one Gustavo Kuerten has made an Olympic medal his target
for next season.
The Brazilian says success in Athens would "complete his career."

"For a guy who's already won a Grand Slam event and a Masters and has been
world number one, winning an Olympic medal would be a dream," he said. 

Kuerten, a three-time French Open champion, finished the year ranked 15th after
 winning tournaments in Auckland and St Petersburg.

The Brazilian, who rose to the world number one spot at the end of 2000, failed
 to make much impression at this year's Grand Slam events.

His best effort came at Roland Garros where he reached the fourth round.

But he is hopeful of winning more titles, especially on his favoured clay
 courts.

"I'm sure my best chances really are on clay," he said. "It's very important
for me to start winning on clay again.

"I have a dangerous game and if I manage to win two or three matches in a row,
the other guys start looking at me in a different way.

"The main thing for me is to stay motivated. I've been on the circuit for a
number of years, I've had excellent results, I've reached number one and I still
look forward to training."
