Becker tips Henman for glory
By Caroline Cheese
"I believe Tim is one of the greatest sportsman Britain has ever produced "
German tennis legend Boris Becker is confident that Tim Henman can win a Grand
Slam title before he retires.
Becker, speaking ahead of this week's Honda Challange at the Albert Hall, said
Henman's win at October's Paris Masters could be key.
"Of course he can win a Grand Slam," Becker said.
"The Paris title is very important because it showed he can beat all the top
players back to back.
"That should give him the confidence for next season when I think he will go
a long way."
Becker, who won six Grand Slam titles, said he could not understand the
criticism Henman receives for his failure to win at Wimbledon.
"I believe Tim is one of the greatest sportsman Britain has ever produced -
especially in tennis," he said.
"I hope he gets the respect he deserves when he retires.
"He has achieved great things every year, with his four Wimbledon semi-finals
and now winning a Masters Series title.
"He has two or three years to win a Grand Slam. People in Britain should
appreciate that because there is not much young talent coming up behind him."
