"I don't want to take it for granted. I want to forget that I got a walkover to the next round. I'm taking today as an opportunity to practice hard for tomorrow's match," said Kuerten. The seventh-seeded Brazilian will meet top seed Juan Carlos Ferrero who beat Italian qualifier Filippo Volandri 6-4 6-4. Ferrero, the Monte Carlo champion last weekend for a second consecutive year, needed one hour, 20 minutes to impose his game. Meanwhile Russian Nikolay Davydenko defeated Jose Acasuso from Argentina 6-4 6-3 while the fourth-seeded Russian Marat Safin beat Jarkko Nieminen from Finland 6-3 6-3. Safin, who won the title in Barcelona in 2000, will face the winner of the match between defending champion Gaston Gaudio of Argentina and Spain's David Sanchez. "My game is to play quickly and get the pressure on my opponents," said Safin, who is playing his first event in a month after suffering an ankle injury. "I have a system on court. If I lose that, I lose everything. I need to keep m otivated and aggressive." Earlier Argentine Agustin Calleri (16) defeated last year's finalist Spaniard Albert Costa 6-4 6-2. "I'm out of touch on clay and also short on confidence," Costa admitted after the match. "He played well but really I made it easy for him." ------ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 218.162.62.81
