January 11, 2005 Four More Seeds Fall on Day 3 in Hobart HOBART, Australia - After yesterday's first round dismissal by top seed and defending champion Amy Frazier, four other seeded players followed suit with losses on Day 3 at the Moorilla International. No.4 seed Shinobu Asagoe, No.5 Anabel Medina Garrigues, No.6 Maria Elena Camerin and No.7 Dinara Safina all fell during second round action in Hobart. However, No.2 seed Gisela Dulko (right) and No.3 Iveta Benesova were spared from joining the others in finding the exits - but not without some struggles along the way. Dulko needed three sets to overcome a challenge from Abigail Spears, 26 63 62 while Benesova also needed three to defeat Barbora Strycova, 63 36 63. No.8 seed Klara Koukalova turned out to be the only seed who didn't have too many problems, defeating Marta Marrero, 61 75. Asagoe, who reached the finals last week at Auckland before her loss to Katarina Srebotnik, was unable to duplicate that feat this week, falling to China's Jie Zheng, 62 63. Medina Garrigues also wasn't able to muster a win, falling to Kveta Peschke, 60 62. Nicola Vaidisova, the 15-year-old who won two Tour titles last year, reached her first quarterfinal of 2005 with her 61 46 63 upset of No.7 Safina, while 18-year-old Marta Domachowska advanced with a similar 64 26 62 victory against No.6 Camerin. Na Li, who was responsible for the first round upset of Frazier, moved into the final eight with a 76(1) 60 victory against Australian wild card Casey Dellacqua. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.167.112.251
