〈馬德里名人賽〉模特兒球僮惹爭議 政府致函關切

模特兒球僮問題引起了西班牙政府高層的關切，勞動與社會事務部平等秘書Soledad
Murill，週二正式致函要求馬德里網球名人賽大會停止利用模特兒擔任球僮，並表示這是
性別歧視的行為，在週二出賽的網球名將Andre Agassi也對此情形提出批評。
這些19到28歲的女模特兒們取代了原本應是青少年的球僮，他們工作必須在場中快速來回
奔跑將球撿起，並在球員發球時遞球與遞毛巾。不過模特兒球僮只被安排在有電視轉播的
場次。
平等部門的秘書Soledad Murillo，寄了一封反對的聲明信給馬德里名人賽大會主席、大會
主要贊助商，以及馬德里市長，她表示這樣的情形只會讓這場比賽的精神沉淪。這封聲明
中指出：「Soledad Murillo…認為這樣的行為更加深對女性的歧視，僅把她們當作裝飾以
及娛樂的物品。」
信中指出：「依據傳統，這項工作應由專長網球的大專男女學生來做，這是一種平等的對
待，如此才不會扭曲了運動競賽的精神。」擔任球僮的模特兒們穿著緊身的黑色上衣，前
方印著贊助商的名字，下半身穿著及膝的白裙，跟以往球僮穿著寬鬆T恤短褲形象大不相同
。
Agassi在賽後也表示：「我想網球運動清楚產品的定位是很重要的，而我不認為這被包括
在這項產品裡。」
對於男選手的比賽，有女模特兒環伺雖然是件幸福的事，Agassi說：「這有點難，至少很
難將球集中在球，但我可能有點優勢，我已經習慣跟我的太太－Steffi Graf一起打球。」
不過馬德里名人賽大會尚未做出正式的回應。

Ball girl models cause outcry
Soledad Murillo, the Secretary for Equality for Spain, has taken exception to
Madrid Masters Series organisers employing female models, aged between 19 and
27, as ball girls. Ever former world number one Andre Agassi has expressed
misgivings that it wasn't promoting tennis in a great light.
Ms Murillo believes the penultimate Masters Series event of the year, should
have employed young tennis fans or local school children.
The Government official insists that the arrival of the models, wearing short
skirts and skin-tight black tops, is sexist and unsporting and has sent a
protest letter to the tournament director.
The models received only two weeks of training prior to the tournament.
Agassi was less than impressed when the chair umpire has to remind a confused
ball-girl to return to the side of the net.
The models are reportedly being paid ￡600 for the week.
"I think it is important for our sport to understand its product clearly, and I
'm not quite convinced this is part of our product," said Agassi.
"It was difficult, to say the least, to concentrate on the ball, but I suppose
I had an advantage - I'm used to playing with my wife (Steffi Graf)."
