Henman withdraws from Lyon Grand Prix

PARIS, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Tim Henman has pulled out of next week's Lyon Grand
Prix ATP tournament with shoulder and back problems, organisers said on Thursda
y.
The Briton, ranked fourth in the world, had already been forced out of an exhib
ition match, scheduled to take place in London on Sunday, because of the injury
.
"The problems I've been having recently with my back are well documented and th
e heavy schedule I had to endure at the weekend in the Davis Cup tie has unfort
unately aggravated the condition," Henman said on his website.
"The heavy conditions we played in have also left me with a slightly swollen sh
oulder,"
Britain lost 3-2 to Austria in a Davis Cup World Group playoff last the weekend
.
Henman was top seed for the 791,750 euros ($975,200) tournament in Lyon, ahead
of Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero.
France's Fabrice Santoro, Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela and Dutchman Martin Verk
